You're a star

I'd like to enter this into the Less is more challenge #249: fire
The Addicted to CAS challenge #76: hero
and the Inkspirational Challenge #95:anything goes with silver

Quite a few challenges , again, sorry.
Saturday I was so dissapointed and saddened I felt all my creative juices flow out of me in an instant.
I had a craft fair Saturday and was all geared up to go even got one of those cardmills from a second hand shop, so I'd look more professional and it would be easier for people to browse.
BUT I sold 5, yes 5 cards and that's less than one per hour! and certainly not enough to cover the costs of being there...

I put my heart and soul into these cards and, although I got a good few compliments, noone was buying. On the upside the girls across the path from me didn't seem to have any customers either.
I'm the only one with modern, CAS cards and they stand out, everyone picks your brain and then go home and make the cards, instead of buying them :-(
It's not even about the money, but as this is card #751 you can see why I need to try and sell some, upside would be I can buy more creative goodies...

Anyway rant over I took Sunday off and now am back into the flow of things I hope.

I thought star, the sun is a star and has the color of fire, oh that's the Less is more challenge, and silver glittery paper diecuts to give the card some shimmer.

I used re-inkers from Distress inks for the watercoloring of the star (squeezed lemonade, ripe persimmon and festive berries)

I've  used the sentiment from My Favorite things bold statements and a star diecut from Nellie Snellen.
I mounted the smaller  top  panel with foamdots to the card base.

  2. Your card is a stunner, love how you mixed the fore star with the silver and the positive with the negative. So sorry you didn't sell so many cards but sometimes this happens. Next time will be better. So pleased you joined us at To

  3. FAB makes. I'm not surprised to read you didn't sell many cards. I used to do craft fayres too but found that people didn't want to pay for a hand made (and unique) card when they could buy a shop bought box of cards for a few pounds. I hope you have good friends and family who appreciate your work

  4. Love your star - it really shines out! Market stalls are difficult - I have found a little success approaching a local gift shop who buys a few cards a month from me. I now try to give cards frequently, but the rest I donate to nursing homes! Good luck!

  8. Your fiery star is lovely; a perfect pairing with the sentiment! I'm sorry that you had little luck with the sale. I've decided (given I live in an incredibly small town) that I create cards 'for me' - to send to family/friends, to donate to nursing homes/children's hospitals. No, doing this doesn't help with the pocketbook...but I love to craft and it makes me feel awesome! I agree with Sandie though: keep trying! People do love handmade cards!

  11. I guess we all need an outlet for our cards, it's really quite tricky at times I know!
Your card is lovely though and perfect for our fiery challenge!
    Thanks so much

  12. Your card is lovely.
I know how you feel about selling your cards, I have the same thing happen, last time I sold nothing.
I have box of cards at my local hairdresser for clients to look through while they are waiting, and she sells them, usually about 5/month, however I pay her 25% commission, but that's ok.
    Keep trying.

  13. Your card is lovely. I'm sorry you didn't have a successful stall, it can be very disheartening, I'm sure you'll find some way to use them. The main thing is to keep doing something you enjoy!

  17. This is gorgeous, Maaike! So sorry that the response at the craft fair was disappointing - I would have thought that your modern, CAS style would have been very popular. Thank you so much for sharing with us at ATCAS!

  18. I love the blended fiery colours in the negative space of your star, and lots of yummy white space too. I'm sorry you didn't do well at the fair, I have a mountain of cards I need to either send or sell so am going to look into that next year perhaps. Have your thought about trying to sell them on Etsy, might be worth a try if you don't mind the hassle of posting them out (you need to cover your costs with the fees etc. though, a bit like eBay). Good luck.
    Thanks for sharing with us.

  19. Congratulations on the Top Three at ATCAS, Maaike! Your card is stunning and I'm sure your boyfriend will cherish it! I'm so sorry you had a bad return on your investment of time and creativity at the craft fair. That really does squelch one's spirit. I never had good luck at those fairs either. I did, however, sell for a few years at three local boutique stores and did particularly well in a high-end artsy shop that sold home decor items and small gifts. Are there any such places near you? Even then, to be honest, it was a lot of work for the small amount of money. I soon found that I had MORE mojo when I was just making card art to send to family and friends and to donate to various nursing homes and hospitals. It became more fun to do it just for fun and I budgeted money by cutting back elsewhere to keep bringing in the NBUS paper craft goodies! I wish you all the best and please do keep creating and sharing through your blog!! Hugs, Darnell
