Father's day card

The card I shall be entering into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Masculine and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: anything goes showcasing Doodlebug products.

For my card I Stamped the Gentleman dog from Katzelkraft onto the Crafter's Companion Marker paper and colored it with my Spectrum Noir markers. Then I ripped the bottom as if the doggie ate it ;-).
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches (Fun and Flirty) and I stamped it with Versamark ink, then heat embossed it with Wow! clear matt dull embossing powder.

I inkblended Versamagic Midnight black and Distress Oxides on the carbase to reinforce the "eaten" part. I added a few enamel dots,

or sprinkles as Doodlebug calls them, I'm not 100% sure these are Doodlebug though I think so.

Mounted the stamped panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase. On the nose of the dog I added a bit of gelpen for a shiny nose effect.

I thought this would be cool for Father's day, also my uncle used to own Great Danes, so another one will go to him later too haha...I colored the guy in flashy colors as he looks very dandy to me ;-)

AAA Cards Challenge #116: 4th birthday bash

This fortnight we're celebrating our 4th birthday, yay. we have a lot of different sponsor, so be sure to check the AAA Cards Challenge website.

For my card I used Versafine Onyx black ink to stamp sentiment and giraffe from Gerda Steiner (Go wild set) one watercolor paper and colored them with Talens Ecoline, a fluid watercolor.

Added googly eyes and then mounted the watercolor panel with tape runner to the cardbase.

I've also made a card with Newton's Nook Raccoon Rascals as Newton's Nook is one of our wonderful sponsors.
I stamped the image and sentiments from the set with My Favorite Things (also a sponsor) Black Licorice ink onto the Crafter's Companion Neenah paper and colored the little rascals with Spectrum Noir and Illustrator markers. Mounted the panel with foamtape to a cardbase.

With Sympathy

It's one layer week over at Less is More, I almost missed that bit of info as I immediately focused on the  "thinking of you bit"...Lucky for me I was working on a one layer already ..phew...Although I did dismissed my first inking: I had an oval mask, i first placed it upright, but it took too much white space, so I  rotated it and put it near the top, inked it, but didn't like the placement.
So instead I masked off a strip, about 1/3 of the cardbase and inked it with Versamagics (Eggplant, Purple hydrangea and Spring pansy)

Then I stamped my Katzelkraft crows (silhouettes des corbeaux) with Versafine onyx black ink as I did with the sentiment also (Nellie Snellen)

Rainbow background with B&W contrasting panel

For this card I pulled out the Folia set from Karin Joan/Marianne Design (KJ1723)and I stamped a few of the leaves with Versafine Onyx black ink on a panel. then traced and outline and cout it out. I also used Gefeliciteerd from KJ1721.
For the background I wetted paper and used Talens Ecoline for my rainbow.
Adhered the rainbow panel, once dry, to the cardbase and mounted the foliage panel with foamtape and adhered it  on top. Few rainbow colored glittery enamel dots, one may be hiding a mistake ;-)

Merci Chocolates giftbox, with video and free pattern

Today I made a giftbox, or hostess gift, party favor, what every the occasion any one could use a "thank you" I'm sure. I'm thinking teacher gifts.

The little box contains 4 Merci  bars, this because I have bought the 32 box and so can make 8 with one box.

For the giftbox you need a piece of paper 9" wide and 7 3/8 tall, I used a 12"x12"paper, but you can use a 8.5"x11"of course, just mine aren't sturdy enough I feel.

Score on the long side at 3",3 3/8, 6 1/2, 6 7/8 and 7 1/2 inches.
On the short side score at: 1 3/4, 2 1/8,  5 1/4 and 5 5/8 inches.

Fold and burnish the scorelines and cut away bits as shown in pattern (//////).

I used a fancy edge scissors to enhance the edges ( funny enough), it doesn't fit through the Bigshot, Gemini maybe, I haven't measured, but you can use  a rotary cutter as well, some have fancy edges, dies, punches or just leave them straight. You should just be able to see the Merci name peeping out of the pocket.

For the contrasting piece I use some of the cut offs and cut a square 3 1/8th, but it's easier to measure as sometimes the box size shifts a bit with the thickness of the score lines.
Used tape runner to attache it to the biggest flap.

I then added a nice colored bit of ribbon to tie is shut.

CAS minimalist eclipse card, with video

For today's card I used an old die from Marianne Design, but any you have will do, even separate letters.
I diecut the word 4 times from the same white cardstock I sue for my bases and panels.

Then I masked off  about 1/3 of the card and applied Versamagic ink with inkblending tools, I've used: Ocean Depth, Turquoise gem and Aquatic splash.
At thsi point, you could splatter with water or spray  paints, like I use a lot, p.e. Brushed pewter and white linen, but again ....going for  really CAS card.

I think it would be for a man or woman, depending on the color choices, this would be ideal for a man in my opinion.

After the inkblending I lined up the die with a T-square ruler to make sure it's straight and passed it through the diecutting machine.

I've put some packing tape on the back of the panel and placed one of the white diecuts back in place, added the little inserts with color and then stacked up all the diecuts with liquid glue, so to have some wiggle time...if you're really accurate you could use Stick-it on the back of the diecuts, might be a little quicker, but I prefer it this way.

You can choose you high you want your stack, lower or higher, it's up to you.
I added the panel to the cardbase using taperunner and added a few enamel accents to finish the card.

Yellow, blue and Grey

That is the challenge over at Less is More this fortnight.
I used blue on the monster body, grey for the grounding and yellow on it's teeth, I hope that's enough yellow, I did try yellow spots, but nah didn't like them lol.

It's a Monstre des Carpates from Katzelkraft, a Carpathian Monster if you will, I stamped him with My Favorite Things Hybrid black ink and colored him with Talens Ecoline.

The sentiment is from Riley and Company and I stamped it with the same ink.
Mounted the panel with foamtape and cut off 1cm, so I could fill the gap on the cardbase with blue glittery washi tape.

For more information on the Less is More Challenge, see this.

Sweet elephants

Both the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and Wednesday Challenge is: stencil it.

For my card I used the SSS grid stencil and inkblended Versamagic inks through it.
I wanted it to look like grass and a watering hole, but also have the feel of a baby boy card.

I diecut the Sweet Elephants from SSS from grey and pink card. I filled in the eye with pencil.
I placed the little elephant the wrong way, so I smoothed out the edges with my bone folder. I kinda wanted them to snuggle, like mommy and baby.
Adhered the elephants with liquid glue.

The sentiment is from Marianne Design
(ec0171) and I stamped it with Versafine onyx black ink.

AAA Cards Challenge #115: Inspired by Nature

This fortnight our sponsor is Happy Little Stampers and you could win a $20 gift certificate.
The theme is: inspired by nature.

For my card I chose to do a chlorophyll print, meaning using leaves (or flowers) and your diecutting machine to press out the "juices".
Now when I filmed this, lots of plants were still dormant and not a lot of juice is flowing, I've tried fern, my favorite for this as it's not too wet and quite sturdy. But on this occasion it didn't really want to play. On my way home from my vegetable patch I also came across this grass like plant, I think it's cowsparsley but I'm not sure.
The technique is really simple you put your leave(s) on a cardfront or panel, in between kitchen paper, and then pass it through your machine as if you were diecutting.

The kitchen paper will soak up a lot, but not all juices in this case the "weed" I used was really juicy.
In the video you can see a few try outs as I had quite a few happy accidents as Bob Ross would say ;-).

As I got a lot of bleeding I decided to tuck the print behind a diecut opening, so to preserve as much white space as possible.

I used the Everyday Sentiments from Happy Little Stampers, with Versafine onyx black ink.
Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered a few semi precious "rocks". I found this in the nail art section and I thought it would go perfectly with our theme.
I only put them in the recessed area, so not to add anymore bulk.

Happy Mother's day if you're one, my cats brought me a toy mouse once, that melted my heart :-D

You're dino-mite

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: For the boys, showcasing Lawn Fawn products.

For my card I used the Lawn Fawn stampset Critters from the past, I stamped it with Simon Says Stamp intense black ink and colored it with  Polychromos pencils, then cut it out.

I diecut a circle from a panel and stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink, then I traced the opening onto the cardbase and applied Versamagic inks with finger daubers as I wanted a dappled kind of leaf canopy look.

I mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase and applied the too, then added Nuvo Shimmer pen to the dino. Added a few green enamel dots.

Vrooming by to say hi

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Ombre.

For my card I used Distress ink to make my ombre background ( Carved Pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, Picked Rapsberry), then splattered it with a water and bleach solution.

I diecut the two borders from Marianne Design (LR0524 abd LR0368) from white cardstock and adhered them together and them mounted them with foam and attached it to the cardbase.

The image is from Gerda Steiner (vrooming by) and I stamped it with My Favorite Things hybrid black ink onto Crafter's Companion Premium Pencil paper and had the Scan N Cut cut it out. Then I colored it with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils and odourless white spirits.

I only have the 24 colors set and still practicing the best combos.

Adhered the little fella with taperunner to the card,

I stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink.

Snowflakes in May

Well it could still happen, although it's close to 20C today :-)

I made another card for the Less is More Challenge, I had the idea last week, but not the time to execute.

Today I pulled out a grey cardbase.
Stamped the big snowflake f rm Joy Crafts with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow! Azure Mist embossing powder.
I stamped the sentiment also with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow!  opaque bright white regular embossing powder.

Then I diecut a few Craft Emotions snowflakes, dipped them with Versamark ink and also used the Azure mist on them.
Adhered the diecuts with tacky glue, mounted the sentiment strip with foamtape and added a few matching enamel dots.

I really like the pale blue frosty look against the grey (sky..lol Dutch skies not always blue).

ruff it's your birthday

Today I got this stampset from Gerda Steiner (dachshunds) and I thought it to be perfect for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: animal magic, although I cannot showcase Gina K products as I have none.

For my card I stamped the image and sentiment from the set with SSS intense black ink onto watercolor card. Sadly I messed up the stamping on the second pass of the sentiment and so I chopped it off at an angle and restamped it on the cardbase with Versafine onyc black ink this time.

I colored the image with the newest Talens Ecoline colors. Added Nuvo shimmer pen on the balloon, Heat set it to be sure and added foamtape, then added it to the cardbase.

Congratulation to the ladies who made the new SSSWC DT...so many applicants, including me, but I didn't make the cut.
