For today's card and video I used Distress inks and bleach!.
Yes instead of just water, I mixed in a little household bleach for a more dramatic effect.
I started my card by diecutting the Memory Box Enchanted deer collage die from sturdy 300grams/140lbs card, it's the same I use for my cardbases.
For the background I sued Distress inks Chipped sapphire, broken china and tumbled glass.
The green I show in the video is bundled sage, peeled paint and forest moss.
After the inkblending I splattered on the water/bleach solution and heat set it. The effect becomes apparent when you start heat setting it.
I then splattered on Talens White ecoline and Distress spray stain brushed pewter.
I thought the shimmer is nice for Christmas and it's repeated in the sentiment.
The sentiment comes from the CAS-ual Fridays set calle lovely snowflake.
I used Versamark to stamp it and PaperMania superfine silver embossing powder. Then heat set it.
Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase.
This card is inpsired a lot by the one I made for the Less is More challenge. But I added kraft card for the wreath instead of white and I likve it a lot for a man.
I diecut the "wreath" from red and green also as I was still in the red and green mood and stacked the three layers. so when you peek from the side the colors show.
I diecut the holly and berries from glitter cardstock and mounted them on the wreath, with foam or glue where it was flush.
I think next stemp is to try it from all kraft :-D

That's the challenge this week over at Less is More. And boy do I dislike red and green together, so it took me a few days to come up with a design I like.
I love red and purple and green and purple, but red and green doesn't go together in my head ;-) I know it's traditional Christmas colors, but that's probably why I embrace non traditional colors haha. A red flower with a green stem, that works somehow though....Christmas green is just not an appealing color to me ;-)
Anyway for the card I diecut the Merry Christmas twice out of red and twice our of green card and once out of white. Stacked them all up with liquid glue and adhered it to the cardbase. I would have preferred to only do one layer of red and one of green, but the paper I used is so thin you could barely see it.
I diecut the holly and berries from red and green glitter card and attached them with foam and liquid glue.
I'd say it's pretty much as CAS as I can get ;-)

For my card I thought to use the Lawn Fawn slide on over set, but not to make a slider card.
I used the biggest straight line straight line to make a stencil. I used grid paper from the SSS MISTI pack, but any will do.
I used this grid paper as I also wanted to show you how I made a grid in Word, printed it, had it copied onto overhead project sheets and then cut to size to fit my Stamper's friend, or the MISTI or any stamping tool you have.
I bought the SSS grid once, but it's small and not metric size friendly. With this all over grid, it really doesn't matter which system you adhere to as you get the full coverage. I think one sheet including copying was 60 euro cents, so, you know...no brainer and whilst I was there I made a few extras for the future or my other stamping tools.
Back to the card. I used the grid to align my die, I started with the outer ones, then the centre and divided the leftover space in two.
I think it turned out pretty even. I had a smudge though and so instead of a cardbase I turned it into a panel, trying to cut off as little as possible.
I used Distress inks and a mini inkblending tool to apply ink in the "channels" (candied apple, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, twisted citron, mermaid lagoon, blueprint sketch and wilted violet).
Then I took my spray bottle that contains water and a bit of bleach and spritzed and splattered the panel. It distressed the rather graphic stripes. You could also splatter on Distress spray stains in the same colors if you have them or white and silver, but I think that might take away from the graphic feel, instead I used a few enamel dots.
Heat set it the applied foamtape and adhered it to a new cardbase.
Diecut the SSS painted thanks from black card with Stick it on it and adhered it to the card, then matched up some glittery enamel dots (as my splatter).
For today's cards I experimented a little.
Also I have learnt 20-24 hours is not enough drying time ;-).
For my card I started by making a thick mask, from cardstock. I don't have the right shape rectangles, but if you do, please used those.
In hindsight, I might not have needed the mask at all, but you live and learn.
For my really thick glitter layer I used Ranger texture paste trasnparent gloss and all sorts of chunky glitter and star confetti. I made three colors in the video and then made some more afterwards, to see if diecutting first works and spreading the paste on without a rim works.
And yes for these 6 cards I used the whole jar of 3fl oz. oops...but I thoguht worth it. Also I found my open jar goes a bit lumpy after a while, so best to use it up :-D
On the second three cards (not in the video) I just spread it, like a sandwich and I diecut the shapes first.
You need quite a thick card to absorb all the moisture and you'll also need a lot of patience, as mine weren't completely dry after 24 hours. the second batch I left for 48 or more.
BUT
I must say the result is glorious and quite heavy, but lovely and shimmery and colorful. No way anyone will have the same paper, if you could buy this one as a patterned paper that it ....
Try it, be patient and amaze yourself!
The blue card has some finer Distres glitter in it (peacock feathers), but I wuld advise to use chunky, looks much cooler.
The words are from Sizzix (I bought them second hand, not sure they're still available #660057) I would suggest you used something that is bolder in design to compete with the busy background, a dainty little die cut won't even show up, even in black, see video.
All the work to make the frame and then I matted the panels so I could wrap the sentment around them, and to neaten them up as I had some seepage. That's were the idea came from to just spread it on a sized panel, and that worked just as well, it's even easier and faster.
One I adorned with a tree from Uniko and the other I left as a star, the last one I'm not sure how to finish it just yet.

I used the Deck the Halls stampset from Gerda Steiner for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday (star light, star bright) and Wednesday Challenge (anything goes showcasing Tim Holtz products).
I stamped the Kitty and sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink and then immediately sprinkled on Papermania clear embossingpowder and heat set it.
I watercolored the image with Distress inks (mowed lawn, candied apple, mustard seed and mermaid lagoon and pumice stone and tea dye for the kitty) a typical Tim Holtz product and one of my favorites. I then added Nuvo shimmer pen on the lights and ornaments and added Glossy Accents on the ornaments for shine and dimension.
For my bright shiny star element I thought a matching washi tape that also has kinda foiled golden stars on it would be the perfect shine. So I added it to the bottom of the cardbase and mounted the watercolored panel with foamtape on top
