Framed Snowflakes

The Less Is More Challenge, is a sketch.

Had to think about it a bit, so I'm kinda late(r) to the party..:-D
Anyway the challenge runs for two weeks, so there's plenty of time if you'd like to join in too.

At first I wanted to do something like a long image, like a giraffe or tree  stretching across the two frames, but then I saw there's a similar entry already.

For my card I pulled out a square die. measured the middle and the upper line, then diecut it twice.
I then stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink so I knew exactly how wide that middle gap needed to be and diecut the lower two windows.
The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Presents and ornaments.

I traced the windows onto the cardbase and inkblended Distress Oxides on it:

And Versamagic Pretty Petunia, but if you have Shaded Lilac Oxide it would match.

Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase.
Diecut the Snowflakes  (Craft Emotions) from the same cardstock, mounted a wee bit of foamtap in the middle of each snowflake.

AAA Cards Challenge #122: use a stencil

This fortnight the AAA Cards Challenge is: use a stencil and it was DT member Melissa's choice.
Our sponsor is Stamplorations.

For my card I used a Tim Holtz Stencil (TSH037) and I went for greens and teals as this stencil reminds me of a tire track, so I thought manly card.
I used Distress inks Peacock feathers and Mowed lawn and mini inkblending tools to apply the inks through the stencil. I started with Cracked pistachio, but I changed it to Mowed lawn as it's more vibrant.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted (Brushed Greetings II) and I used Versafine onyx black ink.
A few matching enamel dots for some shine
and dimension, no rhinestones,no glitter for this one ;-)..Oh my Nuvo shimmer pens feels ignored lol.

Craftin Desert Divas blog hop day 2

Hello and welcome to the August release blog hop day 2.

For my card I used the Tribal Fox digi.
I printed it on marker paper and colored it with alcohol markers, then cut it out.
For the colors I used the same as on all the tribal cards, to keep them as a set if that makes sense, tie them all in with each other.

For the background I cut squares from a panel and traced the openings onto the cardbase.

Then I applied Distress Oxides, masking the other openings where needed. I wanted a color blocking look, with contrasting blocks.

I added the panels with window with liquis glue and mounted the little critter with foamtape and adhered him to the card.

I don’t have many Oxides yet and I tried to match them as  best as I could with my critter.
I have not added a sentiment (yet) I couldn’t think of any funny of cheesy fox puns, except for so foxy…and yeah I don’t send out cards like that haha.

Tribal Lion 18-266

For this card I used the new Tribal lion, printed him out and colored him with alcohol markers. Then cut him out.
I stamped the sentiment from Animal Antics with Versafine Onyx black ink on the cardbase.
Then I  masked off stripes and inkblended the same(ish) colors as on the lion on the cardbase.
I also used the little paw print from Animal antics and Nuvo drops as an embellishment
I love how smooth Oxides blend and also the matt effect it gives. I mix them with Versamagic ink as I have all their colors and only some oxides, but for this card I stuck of the oxides.

Partial foiling - gedeeltelijk foilen met video

Today I foilet only part of a diecut.
to do this I applied Heidi Swapp reactive mist on the lover half of the diecut with a mangy old brush and a really dry brush too, so I would get the strokes.
Let it dry overnight.
Then covered the diecuts with Deco Foil Pewter and passed it through my laminator.
I  used Oxide inks to make the colored strip and or to color the letters.

for my "snow" I used Distress sprays and let it dry.
I then changed my mind and decided the vilage would look nicer, and as I didn't at first my strip wasn't wide enough in spots.

For the sentiment i used the Karin Joan set KJ1719.
Mounted the village with foamtape and adhered it to the card

Distress oxide blueprint sketch
Distress spray: brushed pewter.
Dylusions spray white linen
Versafine onyx black ink
Heidi Swap Reactive spray
Decofoil  Pewter

Tribal Moose- 18268

Today I am sharing a cute card with the Tribal Moose digi and elements from the  Tribal Outdoor set (teepee) and the Camping outdoor set: log, fire and fireflies/

I printed all images on Alcohol marker friendly paper,  cut them out and colored them with alcohol markers. I tried to keep all my tribal critter elements, such as stripes, dots, feathers and such the same colors, so it is all a cohesive collection, might I want to put them in a cardset.
For the backdrop I inkblended Distress Oxides and I stuck  my images to that, either  with liquid glue or with foamtape.
Added Nuvo Morning dew on the bugs to make them shiny.

Craftin Desert Divas: camping scene

For today’s card I used the Craftin Desert Divas Camping outdoor set (fire, signs, sausage stick, firefly), The Tribal outdoor set (mountains and caravan) and the Tribal lion.

I printed all my images on alcohol marker paper, cut them out and then colored them with alcohol  markers. As with the others I kept to the same palette, I only changed up the fur colors. But to make it all tie in with each other and to keep the color palette to a minimum, all the element colors are repeated. I added orange for the caravan.

For the background I used Distress Oxides (Mermaid lagoon and Cracked pistachio) I applied the most blue behind the  mountains, fading out toward the top.
I kept the background solid (no splatters and such)  as the scene deserves all the attention and there’s lots going on.

I adhered all the elements with either liquid glue or a bit of foamtape for dimension.
I made a slit in the lions arm so I could tuck in the stick, but in hindsight I could just have cut it on an angle…oh well you live and learn

I attached a firefly onto the lion’s nose as he’s smiling in such a way, it looked like one needed to be there. Then I added Nuvo drops morning dew on the bug to make it shiny.
