Get well card

Not sure what you call this technique in English, not embroiderd...
I made it for the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #175
and the Less is More Challenge #278

The sentiment in Dutch means something like heartfelt get well, or get well from the heart...so that's why I chose the heart shape. Also the shape in the LIM sketch.

I traced a heart shaped die and pierced it with a needle, then erased the pencil.
I used red and white bakerstwine to fill in the heart, not in any specific order. In the 70's people used to do this with nails on a board, if you can remember ;-)
I stamped a few solid hearts from various stampsets as the  diagonal.
Personally I'm not crazy about those hearts, I think I ruined the card :-(


Anyway... tastes vary...

relaxing in the sun

The Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday Challenge theme for May is: sunshine.

For my card I used Crafter's Companion Stamp (Popcorn the bear voor vaderdag). I stamped it with My favorite things hybrid black ink on Schut hotpressed smooth watercolorpaper.

I colored the image with Spectrum  Noir aqua pens and Distress inks.

The card is for father's day, not sure if it's masculine enough though ;-) I've stuck to a minimum number of colors for this reason.
It's daddy bear relaxing in the garden after pottering all afternoon, shielding himself from the sun with the newspaper, that's how hot it is and he's probably drinking tea ;-)
There is actually also a stamp saying relax, and this for father's day, kind of the reason I bought this set.

I mounted the panel with foamtape onthe cardbase.
As my watercolor panel is slightly smaller I adhered a strip of striped paper to fill in the gap.

Faux watercoloring with embossed sentiments, with video

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: anything goes with Technique Tuesday products.

For my card I used the Marianne design Eline's brush (ec0161) with Ranger Distress inks in black soot, hickory smoke and weathered wood, I spritzed it with a mini mister I filled with water and Perfect Pearls powder (in the color perfect pearls).
I stamped on normal white cardstock as I wanted the cardbase and panel to  match, but watercolor paper would also be OK ofcourse, just mine is either greyish or cremeish in color.
As I only used a little bit of water it was fine on the 250grams or 110-120lbs cardstock, I usually use 140lbs or 300grams for the cardbase and as the 250grams never gets used, I thought I should, but I think the thicked one might have buckled less, still works though, thanks to a bunch of foamtape ;-).

I stamped the thank you from Technique Tuesday (Fabulous by Ali Edwards) with Versamark ink and sprinkled on Wow!  black twinkle embossing glitter and heat set it.
I placed three enamel dots I made previously with Wow! embossing powders and Wow! melt-it. I used one same black sparkle one a clear sparkle one (cha cha) and a blue sparkle one ( totally teal or pacific wave I can't remember).
Adhered them with glue dots.
I cut the panel slightly smaller than the cardbase so to get a nice border. Raised the panel with foam tape.

The process is the same of all the other colors
 this one is Distress inks Blueprint sketch. Mermaid lagoon an broken china with Wow! primary lagoon regular embossing powder,
Most of the regular ones I used are transparent, the matching background helps the color I think.
All of the enamle dots are made with Wow! embossing powders and Wow! melt-it

This one is Distress ink Picked raspberry and spiced marmalade with Wow! Florida sunset embossing glitter.
the sentiment is from Sizzix (birthday by Stephanie Barnard)

 Distress inks Mermaid lagoon and moved lawn with  Wow! Pacific wave embossing glitter

Distress inks Wilted violet and candied apple with Wow! Royal crush embossing glitter.

Wow! embossing powder  metallic copper regular for the sentiment, the background is Zing gold embossing powder, 

Distress inks: candied apple, carved pumpkin and mustard seed.
Wow! embossing podwer  primary apple red regular.
Technique Tuesday Sentiment (fabulous by Ali Edwards).

Distress inks Picked raspberry and ripe persimmon, too samey in my opinion.
Wow! embossing powder is Heart throb embossing glitter. 

Bigfoot photobomb

The Lawnscaping Challenge #130 is : Sparkle it up!!!.

For my card I made a scene of a cove with watercolors I diluted down with Perfect Pearl to give shimmer to the sea, sky and forest.
Let that dry.

Meanwhile I stamped the boat and bigfoot from Lawn Fawn's Loveable legends onto Neenah solar white cardstock with Memento black ink, then colored them with Spectrum Noir markers and cut them out. Went around the edges with the Memento marker.

Diecut the Simon Says Stamp birthday wishes frame and cut out the sentiment to get the Polaroid photo feel.
placed Bigfoot as if he's jumping infront of the camera.

Diecut the Simon says stamp painted hello from black glitterpaper. I stuck Stick-it on the back first so it's easier to stick down.
Three glittery enamel dots I made with the Wow melt it and their embossing powders.

I hope the camera picks up all the shimmer.

Birthday wishes shaker card with video

Another entry to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: make a wish.

I used the Simon Says Stamp birthday wishes frame die to build the shaker.

I adhered Ken Oliver's Stick-it onto a panel of white cardstock and green foam.

I chose green for the pop of color and because the fillings to the shaker will be mostlygreen tones.

After diecutting hte panel I took off the protective film on the stick it and plaved a piece of acetate for the shaker window, then placed the foam. Now foam sometimes gets squised in the diecutting process, and I had to do a little foam surgery to make it fit. But it's still easier than foamtape, especially on this thin frame.

I filled the shaker  with loads of small confetti I got at Action, a Dutch chain of cheap stores, they have lots of craft supplies as well, but never the same all the time, so if yousee it, grab it,it might be gone the next time.

I grabbed three packs of small glass bottles with star confetti, pearl beads ( I think they're called) and glitter, added gold stars and green and gold sequins to bulk it up.
I used the same color bright green as the backing ot the shaker.

Was contemplating wether to do a green back or a white, but chose green, because it was so bright and fun!
Used tape gun to adhere the shaker pocket to the card at an angle.

I love you more than....cake!

I don't know if there's such a thing, because cake is pretty good ;-)
But I made this card for the CAS-ual- Fridays challenge #148: birthday boy
and the Addicted to Stamps & more Challenge #193: CAS.

For my card I stamped part of the CAS-ual Fridays sentiment (from must love snowflakes) so it would say I love you more than...
Then the word cake is a partial stamping from a set by Dovecraft (cupcake boutique).

On the inside I stamped  Happy birthday from Imprssion Obsession (c9935) My own litle obsession there with this stamp ;-)
The image witht he cake is from C.C. Designs (celebrate) I stamped it all in MFT Hybrid ink and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers.
Bit of shimmer from the Wink of Stella clear glitter pen and a white Sharpie for the frosting.

This is m third attempt at this card...firt I messed up stamping the whole thing, more than once, then changed the layout as I wanted  more empty space.

But I managed in the end ;-)

Happy birthday AAA cards challenge blog!

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of one of my favorite blogs, I don't rank them, the ones I take part in are my favorites ;-)
So Happy Birthday AAA cards Challenge and here's to  many more years of fabulous challenges!.

I did the treasure hunt this morning, that was fun! On the email I said my entry would have to wait as I was about to leave for my mother's birthday and at least would have a few hours to ponder on my card....tsss I just made a birthday card for my mother! seriously it was early ;-)

Anyway Happy birthday to my mother as well and here's the card I made:

My mother drives one of those scooter things for old/disabled people, we call them scootmobiel, not sure about the English name.
Anyway I thought it would be funny and she laughed when se open the card (phew).
The image is from Art Impression (full throttle) and is actually a spinner card set, so it also has the back in the package and a sentiment (live life full throttle) which I stamped on the inside.

The sentiment is from Impression Obsession and is new and my favorite at the moment as I love the font and if it's written with chalk.

I used My Favorite Things black licorice hybrid ink to stamp it all and watercolored it with Distress inks. My mom's scoot thing is red and then I chose colors to go well with the red and it kind of turned out like the image on the package, which was not intentional.
The dog is from Simon Says Stamp (beautiful ride) and I stamped him with Memento and colored him with Spectrum Noir markers. My mom's dog has to sit in the basket. I used the coordinating die to cut him out.
Made a slit in the basket and stuck the dog in and some paper flowers. I just pictured my mom coming back from the market.
the Schut hot pressed watercolor panel is slightly smaller so I filled the gap with gold glitter tape and adhered the panel with foamtape.

Less is More Challenge #277

The theme this week is : something that pops or bangs.
So for the Less is More Challenge I made a card with bubbles.

I thought bubbles pop, usually way to quickly.

The imge is from Lili of the Valley (blowing bubbles) and the sentiment is from Crealies and means "get well".

As I made this image into a baby card a lot, I wanted something else and I thought a get well card is a good alternative, I mean everyone would cheer up seeing this cute elephant, right?

I used MFT hybrid black ink to stamp onto Copic blendig card xpress-it... I just got it as I heard it's da bomb, but as of now I didn't find much difference, small image, colored simply with Spectrum Noir markers. Might take a few more uses to see if it's really different.

I've covered the bubbles with Glossy Accents from Ranger to give them shine.
Mounted the panel flush onto a cardbase.

CAS Colour & Sketches Challenge #174

The challenge this week is colours.

I thought Distress inks Dusty concord and peacock feathers were a good match to the Stampin' up ones.

For my silver I used Papermania superfine silver embossingpowder on the dragons' horns and a shimmer glitterpaper as the background.

I started by diecutting the windows (Simon Says Stamp tri-square) out of a cardpanel, slightly smaller than the cardbase.

The sentiment is from Impression obsession (c9935) and I stamped it with Versafine. set it aside to dry,

Meanwhile I stamped the little dragons (Clearly besotted - hotstuff) with MFT hybrid black ink on Schut hotpressed and smooth watercolouring paper 300grams.

For the horns I used the Versamarker to "wet" the littlest areas and then sprinkled on the embossing powder. I didn't get a perfect coverage, but I like that in this case ( I could have done 2 or 3 layers) as  it ads to the dimension also I left the stray powder on their skin as it ads a bit of shine, there's isn't much stray powder anyway. I think now it looks much like the pitted shimmer paper on the background.

I used a white Sharpie to dot the eyes, then cut them out and neatened up the edges with the Memento black marker.

Popped the dragons and the panel onto foamtape and then placed them in their little windows.

So cute ;-)

Wishing you a speedy recovery

I made this card for two challenges: create a smile sketch challenge #5 and the Addicted to CAS challenge: midnight.

I feel like I always hear the ambulances at night, so seemed perfect.

All the images and the sentiment are from Create a smile (whimsical wheels) and I stamped it all with MFT hybrid black ink.

I used Schut hotpressed watercolor smooth paper and Distress ink for my watercoloring.

I've used some sparkly washi tape for the banners in the sketch, but I cut them at an angle instead of fishtails, they wouldn't fit, with that star right there.

Mounted the panel with foamtape and the red panel is just cardstock I adhered with tape runner

Happy birthday card with felt

The theme over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is : felt that.
The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: fun with felt
Showcasing the Spring plush release. 
Now apart from some felt  I couldn't afford to get any of the amazingly beautiful dies, they were just beyond my means :-(.

Now I thought the felt would be perfect for the little caterpillar (cute caterpillar from Memory Box) as caterpiller sometimes are hairy and tactile, so perfect for a child's birthday I thought.

I made a panel slightly smaller than the cardbase and cut out the caterpillar.

I then diecut several colors of felt to make a rainbow caterpillar.

I stamped the sentiment from Sizzix (birthday by Stepahnie Barnard) with Versamark ink and heat embossed Wow! black twinkle embossing glitter.

I thought to use the bold sentiment from Birthday balloons by Simon Says Stamp, but it was a little too small, the balance was off.

I ran some sticky tape on the back of the caterpillar openings and fitted the felt pieces in their spot.
I added two googly eyes with Aleene's fast grab glue, as all kids (and grown ups like me) love googly eyes!.
Mounted the panel with foamtape just like the first card.

 Cheiron says I love this adorable fuzzy caterpillar by Maaike in all the colors of the rainbow! The perfect idea for a kids card, anyone would love this felt fella :)

I made a cardpanel slightly smaller than the cardbase.
I made a his and hers feather with the Simon Says Stamp fethers die and cut out hot pink and bright blue/tealish kind of color.

The I stamped the sentiment from Simon

Say Stamp congratulations set with Versamark and heat emboosed it with Wow! metallic brass powder.
I thought it to be warmer than gold and I think it fits better with the bright colors.
I adhered the feathers with Aleen's fast grab glue.

I mounted the cardpanel with foamtape onto a cardbase for dimension.

I made another card with felt, as rummaging through my dies gave me another fabulous idea...well I think it's fabulously funny ;-)

Mermaid tails embossing powder on a mermaid stamp with video

My second entry for the Less is More challenge: at sea, is this cute little mermaid.

I recently got the Wow! embossingpowder mermaid tails and it just made sense to use it on a mermaid.
Actually a little girl in a mermaid costume I think, but hey...she's from Lili of the valley (little mermaid 1) and I stamped her on Neenah solar white cardstock with Memento ink as I will also use my Spectrum Noir markers.
As the challenge is also one layer I folded the Neenah cardstock, instead of using just a panel.

The markers do go through to the inside so I did cover that up with some normal cardstock, I hope it's still considered one layer.

All the Wow! embossing powders I've used:
dress: mermaid tails

wings (?) silver stratosphere or is it fins?
fintail(?) mistletoe magic...I need to brush up on my fish anatomy ;-)
The shells:  Florida sunset,fairy dust,mulberry mist and heart throb,

The sentiment is from Pink Fresh Studio (good sayings).
