one layer+ one word

That's the new Less is More Challenge: One layer card and only one word.

So for my card I chose Hoera (Hooray) from Carlijn Design and Versafine black ink of course.

But I started my card by inkblending the gumballs (dots) with Distress inks. I made stencils with circle cut outs and I chose a few happy colours (Mermaid Lagoon, Lawn Fawn, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin)

Stamped the sentiment on top.

Easy Peasy.

Update March 16th:

Pirate treasure

They always say X marks the spot, so for this week's Digi Highlight I've used two:

Pirate Dragon and Path in the Woods.

I thought the Path in the woods digi might look like a treasure map and the Pirate Dr
agon, just reinforces that.

So I printed both digis, I applied Distress ink on the map, tore the edges, inked up a coffe mug with Distress inks and "stamped" it,  you know to make it look old, also splattered with water and ink and curled up the edges,. Added the X at the end with a marker.Covered the cardbase with this beige or tan colored cardstock, I also splattered, to make it look like stone or a beach. Added the map on top.

I colored the Pirate Dragon with markers, cut him out and mounted him with foamtape and adhered him on top.

Wasn't sure about which sentiment to add, so I'll wait till the occasion arises.

Find the digis in the Whimsy shop: Path in the woods and Pirate Dragon.

Whimsy Stamps Lucky Gnomes

This week I played with the Whimsy Stamps Lucky Gnomes digi set.. I printed one of them, colored hi, as a leprechaun  and as St Patrick's day is approaching, I thought it was fun.

I masked off  a strip on the cardbase and ink blended a rainbow with Distress inks (Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Mermaid lagoon,  Chipped Sapphire and Villainous poison). I splattered the strip with Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust.

I chose the gnome with the pot of gold (at the end of the
rainbow). Printed him on Copic safe paper and I've used Copics, Spectrum Noir and Graph-it brush markers, then cut him out. Mounted him with foamtape and adhered him on top of the rainbow.

The sentiment is from the Everyday Banner sentiments and if you print it with a laser printer, it's perfect to foil and I thought with gold foil it would look like gold and that went well together with the leprechaun , at least in my head. It's so shiny on  one photo you can't read it, so I made one from a different angle. Tuckd the sentiment under the Gnome.

AAA Cards Challenge #209 1/9th + Favourite Animal

This fortnight we're playing a new game: 1/9th of the card front + the optional twist of Favourite Animal.

The twist was chosen by Asa. And, yes, I didn't use a cat! wow I know , I went for Panda bear the favourite animal of a friend this card is going to. I will add a sentiment before sending, but for the challenge I had to stick to the 1/9th.

I shall explain. a metric card size is 14,85cm x10,5cm. for easy sums I rounded it up to 15x10.5cm if you divide that into threes you get a rectangle of 3.5cmx5cm as shown in the game badge. You can use any of the 9 rectangles, but only one and ideally the sentiment should be in there too, or leave it out like I did. You can always add it later, after you've entered into the challenge, don't worry. You can use this grid on both portrait or landscape cards.

For my card I had to look for a stamp that was the right size. This is from Marianne Design (EC0179), I stamped it on Waterart paper with Versafine ink and colored it with Zig Clean Color real brush

pens. Now that I look at it I see purple and teal, so I might have snuck in my favourite colours lol..I didn't realise.

Cut it out with the matching dies and mounted it with foamtape to the cardbase. On my first version, I tried to make an inkblended rectangle behind the panda, but I really didn't like it.

Playful Kittens

Today I show you the Whimsy Stamps digi Playful kittens, also available as rubber cling stamp if you prefer.

I printed one of the cats, had the Scan n Cut do it's thing, colored it with Copic markers. I diecut a basic heart shape from a panel, and inkblended in the cardbase with Distress inks: Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry. Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase. Adhered the car and butterfly with glue and foam where needed. The sentiment is also a digi and I just printed it with my laser printer and then cut it out. There's also sentiments in the digi file, but I prefer this bold look.

Less is More Challenge: Birthdays and DT Call

The Less is More Challenge is back! with their 11th Birthday celebration and a DT call.

I think I have plenty of DT work, but if you're interested go ahead, it's a great challenge if you love CAS. I was tempted though, not gonna lie ;-)

For my card I cut an opening into masking paper and then applied Distress inks: Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron. I started with Tumbled Glass, but I thought it was too pale so I went over it with Mermaid Lagoon; Splattered with water and metallic watercolor

splatters.

For my image Ive used Scrapbook Forever (Panda's) and the sentiment is from Clearly Besotted ( Tiny Type). I was coloring the panda last night, just for fun and I thought it was perfect or she was perfect for this card ;-). I've used Graph-it Brush markers for it.

Adhered the panda on top with Foam tape.

AAA Birthday Challenge #34 February: Pattern

This month we play with Pattern, the challenge was chosen by Nonni.

For my card I rummaged through my patterned paper and I found this pretty , almost watercolor looking flower paper. It had some kind of shiny elements, like it was heat embossed, not sure you can see it on the photo.

I cut a strip from the cardstock, matched it to  pink and orange cardstock. Just to give it  more contrast I  added the darker pink, with only the orange cardbase it would looks bland.

Adhered everything  with tape runner to the cardbase and stamped the Happy Birthday with Versafine ink. It is from the Simple

Sentiment Strips set by Whimsy Stamps.

AAA Cards Challenge #208: Color scheme: Black, White +1

This fortnight the theme of Black and White + 1 was Chosen by Asa, Ceal and former DT  lady Arlene.

It's close to Valentine's day, but I don't do Valentine's card so a little nod to it only.

I diecut the Simon Says Stamp Heart of Flowers from a card panel, on the cardbase I applied Distress inks Fired brick.

My sentiment is from Clearly Besotted Tiny Type and I stamped in it black Versafine ink.

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: With Love, seemed fitting. For more information on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. see this.

Whimsy Stamps Highlight Penguins Loves his Kittens

This week I showcase this cute and amazing digi from Crissy Armstrong: Penguin loves his kittens.

You may or may not know I am crazy about cats, Had 2,now just one and seeing all the kittens on social media, just makes me broody . That's where the sentiment came from. I twisted the good old saying  Smitten like a kitten into what I thought was more me ;-).

I printed the image onto Copic Friendly paper and colored it with alcohol markers.

As my printer tends to print on a slant, I trimmed the card into a panel and mounted it on a cardbase.

You can find the digi in the Whimsy Shop:   https://whimsystamps.com/collections/crissys-digis-by-crissy-armstrong/products/penguin-loves-his-kittens-digital-stamp
