Easier and cheaper light up card with Clearly Besotted fireflies

The Clearly besotted stampset is called a Bug's life and I used it to make a light up shaker card!

Yes with this hack you can too ;-)

I'm entering it into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: recycle as I used  "old"Christmas lights in a different way.

Welcome Baby

The new Less is More Challenge is: Pink and Gold.

I thought it was the One Layer week, but luck me eh? I couldn't have done this card with one layer, even if I inlaid the wreath, I felt it needed matting.

For my wreath I've used the Simon Says Stamp Blooming Circle die and cut it from a panel of white, pinks and gold glitter. Now the last one didn't work it didn't cut through mine and I was too lazy to go upstairs to get others, hehe.

I've put sticky tape behind the panel and put all the bits back. I might have used a pale green for the leaves if it weren't for the challenge, so I put the white ones back.

Now I thought with the sticky tape at the back would it hold one to embossing powder? It did, not as good as with ink, but had to try. I've used Wow rich gold regular powder, sprinkled it on and melted it.

For the sentiment I used one I had on my desk, I thought the pink was perfect for a baby girl.  Might add a cute image if I feel it's a bit boring, don't know yet.

Added the panel with foamtape to the card and the sentiment strip also.

Wizard Dragon

This week I've used the Whimsy Stamps digi: Wizard Dragon.

To me it looked like he just woke up, so I made this eyelids bigger or this eyes smaller , you can still see the original line being black, but I thought it went with the sentiment,

I  have a t-shirt that says this:"I don't drink coffee to wake up, I wake up to drink coffee". I think that's funny even though I don't drink coffee.

I colored the dragon with Copic Markers and made this eyelids darker, much like my own panda eyes ;-)

Matted the panel and adhered it to a cardbase.

you can find the digi here: https://whimsystamps.com/products/wizard-dragon-digital-stamp?_pos=1&_sid=4670682de&_ss=r

Hoppy Mail

This week the Gerda Steiner Stamps egg hunt continues and I made this card with a Gerda Steiner Digi Bunny with Letter, it's no longer available, but you can get a similar "real" stamp .

I printed it and colored the digi with Copic Markers, then cut it out.

For met scene/backdrop I cut out this stamp like panel, masked the edges to keep them white and applied Distress inks Twisted Citron and Tumbled Glass, then I placed a stencil on top (from Create a Smile Stamps (Happy mail) and applied the same colors, so I would get a faint design.

I made  the sentiment with my label maker.

AAA Cards Challenge #211: Anything CAS Goes + Spring Animals

This fortnight we have a new kind of challenge for you: anything CAS goes + the optional twist of Spring animals.  The twist was chosen by Tristan.

Anything goes was chosen by former DT  lady Arlene and I added CAS to the  title as we are a CAS Cards Challenge and we'd open ourselves up to a can of worms...also Spring Animals? hehe...

Anyway CAS Card, Spring Animals if you like, but other than that Anything goes.

For my card I made the background with the Clearly Besotted stencil Around About inside a circle mask, it makes it easier to line up. I've used Distress

inks left on my foam blending tools, but otherwise I would have used Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean or Tumbled Glass.

My Spring animals are from Paperie ink (Some Bunny Talk), so it the upper sentiment. the Lower one is from Whimsy Stamps (SImple Sentiment Strips). I stamped them on Copic friendly paper and colored them with alcohol markers, Scan N Cut did her magic and I adhered the dandelion flush to the cardbase, mounted the bunnies with foamtape. Then added the white in their eyes and the string to the cans.

Moody Unicorns

It's Easter egg hunting time with Gerda Steiner! Look for the #gerdasteinerdesigns and see what all fans have made. I used the Moody Unicorns for this week. I think it's my favorite GSD set and I colored it with Graph-it Markers. The sentiment is from the same set. The background is Distress inks (Candied apple, Carved pumpkin, Mustard seed, Twisted citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry). The shine is Liquid Stardust from Lawn Fawn. Mounted the image with foamtape. #GSD #Gerdasteinderdesigns.

I've entered this card into the March challenge on Gerda Stein's website

No bad hare day

This week's highlight is a bit of a pun on another digital image I saw (bad hare day) and I thought it was funny as I don't send out Easter cards. Also because my hair is always a mess, you need to find someone that doesn't mind a messy bun ;-)

For my card I used the digi called  Cinnamon with Bunnies, I printed it on Copic Friendly paper. then masked off the lawn area and applied Distress ink Twisted Citron. Colored the image with Copic markers, then cut it smaller to bet a frame with the cardbase.

I made the sentiment while I was in prepping the digi. Adhered the panel to the cardbase with foamtape.

Then added the gel pen details and shimmer on the flower.

you ca find the digis in the Whimsy Shop:

Hippo Bird day

There's a new challenge over at Less is More and it is: add a bit of bling. Both the Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday Challenges are about adding a bit of green, in honour of St. Patrick's day, I'm Sure.

For my card(s) I started by inkblending the Clearly Besotted Roundabout circle on the cardbase, I've used a circle opening to position my landscape and Distress inks to make my landscape.

then I stamped the sentiment from  the Clearly Besotted set: Hippo Bird Day with  Versafine ink and smudged it when I was cleaning the stamp (slap face), so I diecut it out and stuck it on a new cardbase. Lucky for me it's not the ONE layer week ;-) I didn't want to start over from Scratch, but this time I did heat set the sentiment to be sure .

I stamped the image with My Favorite Things Extreme black ink and coloured it with Copic markers. I added my bit of sparkle on the balloon with a Nuvo Shimmer pen. I did contemplate to make the balloon green but I felt the pop of red is needed. There's green in the landscape after all, but I added some glittery enamel dots, contained inside the circle.

AAA Birthday Chalenge #5: Under the Sea

This month the AAA Birthday Challenge is all about things and stuff that can be found "under the sea".
For my card I've used a dieset from Avec Creative ( Action) and I diecut everything from white cardstock and applied Distress inks with a blending tool.

I've used all sorts of colours and even whatever was left on the ink foam.

Masked off the top of the card and applied Distress inks too (Tumbled glass, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire), splattered with water and Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust for my bubbles.
The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment strips) and I've stamped it with Versafine ink.
Placed the elements on the card with or without foamtape, tucking fishes and such behind the Algea or at the
front.

AAA Cards Challenge #210: Sketch + silhouette

This fortnight we play with a sketch.

Now to be fair I kinda had to go with the cat and purple, but the silhouette can be any shape and the circle any shape and any color. It was just so "me" hehe, I also chose the theme, so there ya go ;-).

Remember you can also flip or rotate the sketch, as long as we can see it in your card.

For my card I  tore a shape out of masking paper and ink blended Distress inks, Kitsch Flamingo and Dusty Concord, then splattered with Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust.

The cats are from Impression Obsession (DIE083-K) and I die cut them from black cardstock.

The Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps : Simple sentiment strips and I stamped  it with Versafine ink.

For more information, or to play along the AAA Card Challenge, see this.

The Simon says STamp Wednesday Challenge is: add a diecut and the diecut cats seem to fit. For more information see this.

Sending Sunshine

I got this new set in yesterday and I put it to work today for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, use a diecut.

I've first partial diecut the  arch from opic friendly paper, then masked off the bottom portion, in case I didn't align the stamp properly.

I then stamped the cute image from Whimsy Stamps: Sensing Sunshine with My Favorite Things Extreme black ink and fussy cut it. Now this would be much easier with coordinating dies, but hey with a bit of patience you can do it too.

Traced the opening onto the cardbase and applied Distress ink Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron.

Colored the image with Copic markers, then  mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it on the cardbase.

Mounted half the sentiment with foamtape and used liquid glue on the other bit, so I could have it hang over the edge.

Home is where the Gnome is

For this week's Digital  stamps highlight, I've used the Whimsy Stamps Spring Gnomes.

I thought this one looks like he might have a new  (bird) home. And so I decided to make it a moving house card. And as I strongly feel every home/garden needs a Gnome I came up with the sentiment.

I have my eyes on one or two from Action, not sure I like them enough, it's a couple and they're so cute, but the colors...don't match my flowers, I shall get one eventually, for now I have a concrete pig statue in my garden. Had is for 25-30 years. not sure, It moved with me twice. I also have my Kitsch Flamingo Of course, so might be kind of full or Kitsch things hehe.

Anyway back to the card: I masked off an area on the cardbase and inkblended Tumbled Glass and Cracked PIstachio on  it. Then Splattered with Metallic watercolor paint for shine and interest in matching colors of blue and green.

I made the sentiment in Word with a bold font (I also use for my personal watermarks, Thought it looked a little like the Digi sentiments from Everyday Banner Sentiments).

Printed the Spring Gnome on Copic Safe paper and colored it with my Copic marks and a nod to Ukraine with Blue and yellow. Mounted him with foamtape and adhered him to the cardbase.
