colored inkblending handles

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Focus on alcohol inks.

Yesterday I made a cool Northenlights or galaxy background for a video coming soon on my Youtube channel. I pulled all the alcohol inks out again to make a similar background. Had to move my inkblending tools out of the way and I wondered, what if...

So I did;-)

What you ask? I colored the wooden handles with alcohol inks, amongst them, indigo, red pepper, summer orange, mermaid, pistachio, honeycomb, don't remember them all, but basically I  matched the foam to the handle. Previously I wrote on the wood with a Sharpie, tried to clean that up as much as possble.

All alcohol inks are from Ranger.

The inks were absorbed by the wood a little, but I basically just dripped the inks on and spread them out with the nozzle. I use the same foam for the same color family, so red, orange, yellow etc.

I thought this was a handy visual help to get the right foams on the right handle, also it looks pretty. The holder was two tiered, but with these new domed cushions, it didn't work so well, took the top one off. I found this old fashioned ( and brown) stamp holder at a thriftstore.

Tony Chocolonely Minis treatbox, Hostess gift, Party favor stocking st...

Tony Chocolonely minis treatbox, party favor, stocking stuffer, hostess gift with vieo and free pattern

For these you'll need a piece of cardstock measuring 6.5inches x 4.75"

The box fits 2 and the finished dimensions are 1"x 2.75"x 1.75" appr.

I tried a smaller version, so it would give less scraps, but it would mean only one minichocolate in there and that felt a bit stingy or Grinchy ;-)...

Score on the long side at: 1,2.75, 3.75,5.5 inches (1. 2 3/4, 3 3/4, 5 1/2)

Rotate and score at 1 inch and 3.75 inch (3.3/4)

Notch out a half circle from one end

Remove bits as shown in pattern and glue with hot glue gun.

Embellish with ribbon, tags , jingle bells if you want.

AAA Cards Challenge #179 Along the Edge + Snowflakes, with video

This fortnight the AAA Cards Challenge is: Along the Edge and the option to use Snowflakes.
Our sponsor is Uniko Stamps and you could win an instock stampset if you play along.

I've used the Precious Marieke PM 10077 Winter fun border  to create my snowflakes along the edge.

As background I used a scrap of laminated watercolour paper, I've made before and kept, you know just in case.

I applied Spectrum Noir Amethyst Sparkle ink and heat dried it.

I die cute the panel twice, as after the first cut I thought it would be impossible to adhere all those intricate swirls, so for the second panel Istuk double sided adhesive behind it, so much easier.

As the border is so swirly and  playful I thought I'd need a swirly sentiment too. I've used Carlijn Design Elegante Kerst and Memento ink Grape Jelly, after I decided against the Wow embossing powder Purple glitz.

Snowy Trees

This week has run out  more quickly than usual, so I've combined a few challenges.

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Happy Holidays.

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: Christmas.

The Less is More Challenge is: Festive plus ONE layer cards.

For my card I've cut a mask from the Marianne Design Trees (CR1287). Then I masked off an area on the cardbase and placed the tree mask on top.

Applied Distress inks (Faded Jeans, Broken China and Tumbled glass) then splattered with water, white and silver.

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp: Tiny words Christmas and I stamped it with Versafine ink.

Christmas Craft Creations - November theme: anything goes but NO cards with video

Christmas Craft Creations - November theme: anything goes but NO cards.

So I made some Christmas Sour cream treats or stocking fillers.
I filmed this in September, so I've used candies I had, still some Easter eggs left too. Didn't like them, cheap fake chocolate ;-)...Anyway these treat things are really easy to make.

I've used 6x6"paper and cut it to 4,5"x6" so it's retangular. The size really doesn't matter, the shape will change or the size. Ilike rectangular pieces as they look the most like those oldfashioned Sour Cream pouches.

I'm using light weight paper, not cardstock, you canofcourse, but then the double sided
tape should be replaced with the hot glue gun, it might not stay glued together if it's heavier card. And as a stocking filler I don't think they need to be made of your precious cardstock. If you use 12x12 you can get 4 out of a sheet, but please use hot glue.

I put tape/glue on the short side and glue that to the other edge, see video.
then I peel one of the longer sides off and push it together, I do pay attention to the seam. then fill it with goodies and peel off that side of tape and turn the pounch 90degrees, so the seam is on an angle to the one before, again, see video, it's really easy, but hard to explain ;-)

I went through my stash of Christmas related embellishments and added a few bit and bobs to spruce them up.

Please remember to make it a Christmas themed project and if you want to be in with a chance to win a prize, you should display the monthly badge and link back to the CCC blog.

AAA Cards Challenge #178 Sketch, with video

This fortnight the AAA Cards Challenge is a sketch and the optional twist is to use primary colours.
Together those two threw me, I had to think real hard, then I discarded the  optional twist and went for black and silver. I feel a very masculine and elegant card.

Our sponsor is Funky Fossil Designs and you could win a GBP15  store credit.

For my card I followed the sketch first by adding a bit of black/silver  Christmas Washi tape. Ilike to fold the edges over, or you get those peeled up corners, so even if you see it on the back or inside, I still prefer it.

For the bits across the washi I thought I'd use a sentiment banner. I embossed  My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes with Papermania Superfine Silver. To cut it out I've used a Carlijn Design banner set.  As always use what you have.

I embossed some black card with Wow Midas Touch and cut out  one of the Splendid Stags from Newton's Nook. adhered it with liquid glue to get all the  antlers coated.

mini cards

The Less is More this fortnight is Red+Gold or Blue+Silver.

I made two cards in both combos.  I made the cards 10x10cm because the ornament die from Memory Boxi is very small. The die is called Swirl Ornament and I  cut silver and cold card with it, then glued it to blue and red card and cut it out by hand.

Stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted ( Tiny Type)  with Versafine ink.

Glued the ornaments on  the cardbase.

Monster Birthday

The AAA Birthday Cards CHallenge is: for a child.

I made this card with a cute little monster with plait from Goebie and Watercolors from Talens Ecoline.

I added the sentiment in Photoshop.

Adhered watercolored panel to a cardbase with tapreunner.

I think he's a cutiepie

Toy Chest

The Male Room Challenge this month is: toys.

For my card I printed a digi from Hambo stamps: Toy Chest, I added the sentiment while in Photoshop.

I printed it on watercolor paper with my laser printer. Colored it with Zig clean color real brush pens and Talens Ecoline.

My print went a bit  crooked so I trimmed the panel and adhered it to the cardbase with taperunner.

Scorpio birthday

The new AAA Birthday Challenge is: for a child.

I had this pre coloured Scorpio image in my stash, it was from Craftin Desert Divas, but they're no longer in business, still I use them. Scorpio month is coming up too, so double useful.

I coloured the image with alcohol markers, then cut it out.

The background is inkblended rainbow with Card Deco ink, I felt I should use soemthing else for a change, they work just as well as any dye inks.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted (Tiny type) and I've stamped it with Versafine ink.
