AAA Cards Challenges #195- Along the Edge + Dry Embossing, with video

This fortnight we play along the edge, plus the optional twist to use dry embossing as chosen by our dt member Lucie.

I dry embossed a corner die into my panel. I was given this to sell for a friend, but I liked it so much I've kept it. Only thing my friend remembers it was pricey , but no name and no brand. No China stuff though!.

I don't have  many if any embossing folder anymore, but you can dry emboss with stencils too, or just a scoreboard, but today I'm used a die.

I'm inking it with Distress inks Mowed Lawn and Wilted Violet, rather gently so to catch

only the cutting edges, then the tricky bit is to place it on your cardpanel/base without it moving or bumping, cos the ink will transfer immediately. So I stuck it down for good measure and passed it throught my Bigshot as you would do with a normal embossing folder.

Cut the panel 1cm smaller than the cardbase to create a border but also to tuck it into the corner a bit more.

The sentiment is from Concord and 9th (Butterfly beauty) as I felt Thinking of you is a good match and the card feels appropriate for a condoleances card.

Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase.

Orange , orange, orange

The New Less is More Challenge is to CASe a card from Elaine's as it's her birthday: happy birthday Elaine.

For my card I took the squares and the orange and tried to make ethereal flower like  shapes with alcohol inks, then cut them out with square nesting dies, mounted them with foam and stamped the sentiment from Whimsy Stamps (Simple sentiment strips), pretty straight forward, but now to clean everything that got ink on it, like my plates and dies and table and hands haha...

Anyway,  who cares about a little ink?

Christmas Craft Creation - July Theme- Anything goes, with video

This month it's Anything Goes at Christmas Craft Creations,so I  made little treatboxes, party favors, stocking fillers if you will.

The finished project measures 2"x 2"1/4x 3/4',  the paperyou need is 3"c6"and you'll get 8 out of one sheet of 12"x12". You can put anything inside, over here we have these chocolate coins for Christmas and Sinterklaas. But I also found some littl chocolate baubles, I'm sure there's lots of things you can stick in there like candycanes.

Cut your paper to 6"x 3". Score on the short side at 3/4"turn and score on the long side at3/4", 2"3/4, 3"1/2 and 5"1/2

burninsh the scoreline, remove bits as shown in videoor on pattern. glue together . I like to

use glue gun, strong, bit of wiggle room and quick.

AAA Cards Challenges #194: a Twinchie + Christmas in July, with video

This fortnight we play the One inchie game again, with the optional twist of Christmas in July, This twist was chosen by  Nancy.

We have recently changed the requirement to a two inch block or circle, but I had already made my card and video, so I left it. We felt 2 inches might give you a bit more options..

I've printed a free digi from Tiddly Inks to measure 1 inch. it printed a tad smaller, but that's fine.

I've coloured it with my fine line alcohol markers from Graph it.

Matted the panel as one of the edges was a bit chomped up. Then adhered it to the cardbase with tape runner.

Christmas in July

The new Less is More Challenge is: Christmas in July.

For my card I used a Gerda Steiner Llama and colored her with my markers, cut it out.

For the background I've inkblended Distress inks: Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire, then splattered with white paint for the snow.

Added the layer with the sentiment on top with foamtape, so I could neatly tuck in the llama.

The Male Room Challenge July: Christmas in July

This is the perfect month to start with Christmas cards and of course our theme is: Christmas in July.

For my card I printed a  freebie digi from Dustin Pike, if you want it you might still be able to find it on his blog.

I printed it on watercolour paper. Added the sentiment while I was  prepping the image in Photoshop.

Coloured the image with Talens Ecoline and adhered the panel to a cardbase.

AAA Birthday Challenge #27 : use an Embossing Folder, with Video

This month our challenge is: use an embossing folder. I bought this one on purpose, as I had none, but you can use any you have.

You need an iron without steam, wax paper an embossing folder and Dye inks, like I've used Distress inks: Candied apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet.

I cut the wax paper to the size of my card panel, placed it into the embossing folder and passed it through the diecutting machine as usual.

To transfer the "print" I put the wax paper in between two cardpanels

and then into a carrier sheet, and then ironed it. If you're lucky and your embossing folder is a bit  bolder in it's print, you might see a  shine on your panels.

But once you start to inkblend you will really see the  pattern appear, it's quite cool.

For my Hoorray in Dutch Hoera, I've used the dieset from Carlijn Design.

Rounded the corners of my inkblended panel and mounted it with foamtape before adding it to the cardbase.

Mounted the black shadow with foamtape also and I;ve used liquid glue on the white letters.
