More Singing Penguins: release week 2 for Craftin Desert Divas

Last day for the new October release by Crafting Desert Divas.
I used the Singing penguins digi again and printed it on marker friendly  paper, colored it with Spectrum Noir and Illustrator markers, then cut it out.
I printed the sentiment from the same set onto a panel and cut a strip for the bottom of the card.
For the background I pulled out alcohol inks in purple, blue and green tones and with normal rubbing alcohol I made it look like a water colored panel (I hope anyway). Splattered on white ink and adhered it to the cardbase.
Mounted the sentiment with foamtape too and adhered it to the cardbase, then mounted the penguins on top with foam and liquid glue.
I adhered the music notes with Nuvo Deluxe glue too.

I had also printed and colored the igloo from Chilly time, but I thought it wouldn't fit well, so I left it out.

Craftin Desert Divas release week 2: Merry and Bright (18-349)

For my card this week I used used the Craftin Desert Divas Bright deer again, I printed him on marker friendly paper, cut him out and colored him with Spectrum Noir and Illustrator markers.

I made a panel with the sentiment from the same set at the top, printed it out and then diecut the Scribble snowflake from it and also from silver card.
Then replaced the white with the silver diecut, attached it with tape on the back.

Traced the opening onto the cardbase and applied Oxide inks.
Inserted the deer and secured him to the panel, then mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase.
Personally I like non traditional colors for Christmas, and these lilacs are just the right frosty hue in my opinion. I did use traditional fairy light colors though lol.I mean the sentiment says it all ;-)...

AAA Cards Challenge #127: kindness

This fortnight the theme was chosen by our DT member Tracie and it's Kindness in honour of Kindness day.

Our sponsor this time is Stamplorations.

I made two cards. I once had a stamp saying "you will never regret being kind" from Impression Obsession I believe, but I gave it away. So I made the sentiment in Photoshop, also for the second card. I printed them on the Crafter's Companion Neenah paper, cut them to size and colored the cat with Spectrum  Noir and Spectrum Illustrator markers.

The other is simply printed and then stamped with Marianne Designs (Eline's brush) with Memento dew drops (Lulu lavender, Elderberry and perfect plum). A few matching enamel dots and I matted it for the cardfront, mounted it with tape runner.

I resisted coloring my cat black again, but I can just  imagine what my cats would think if I tried to bathe them...mayhem will occur and yeah their thoughts will be pretty much..stay kind, be kind,I will have my revenge, etc...:-D Why would one wash their cat I don't know, never have but once when one of my cats came home with strange black goo on him.
The stamp is from Whismy stamps and is called Bath cat and I stamped it with My Favorite Things black licorice ink.

Coloring digi images

Today I've rounded upsome of the digi stamps from Craftin Desert Divas I like to print and color whilst watching tv.
I round up a lot of them this way ;-) but here's a selection of a few of my favorites.

But there's many more fabulous images at the Craftin Desert Divas webshop and I like to buy them using my digi club subscription. You pay only 7 dollars a month and get to shop 14 dollars worth of digis, such a fabulous deal!

Warm winter wishes/Warme winter wensen

This week I'm sharing a card for Marianne Design/Karin Joan.
I made a  "birds' nest" wreath, well that's what I am calling it anyway.
I diecut three colors of brown with the Marianne Design LR0551.
Then I eyeballed the placement and stamped the red string and sentiment on the cardbase.
Attachted the star wreath layers with glue, only adding glue here and there, so it would look messy and birds nest like.

I stamped the leaves from Marianne Design KJ1715 with Versamark and heat embossed them with Wow embossing powders.
Tucked into the wreath.

Materials used/Gebruikte materialen:
Marianne Design KJ1715
Marianne Design KJ1717
Marianne Design LR0551
Wow! embossing powders: Mulberry mist, Sensational sage and Vintage peacock.
Versamark ink
Versafine Crimson red ink

Craftin Desert divas:Bright deer

I made this, week one, release card with the Bright Deer digi from Craftin Desert Divas.
I also used the little candy cane from Sweet time penguin. I printed both on marker friendly paper and had my plotter cut them out.
Colored them with both Spectrum Noir and Illustrator markers.
I printed the sentiment from the same set onto a panel and adhered it to the cardbase.

For the background I masked off the  middle of the card with tape, ripped one piece of tape and used it to make my snow banks. I used Oxide tumbled glass for this. The splattered in white ink.

Mounted the deer with foam tape and adhered him to the card. I used Nuvo deluxe glue for the candy cane, which I thought might also look a little like the North Pole pole..lol
White gelpen on the deer's nose and cane for shine.

Traced the circle onto the cardbase and then applies Distress oxide inks

Merry Christmas with glittery backing- glitter achtergrond

Today I'm showing you a card I made Marianne Design/Karin Joan products.

I started by diecutting 3 circles from a panel and Stamped the sentiment from KJ1719 with Versafine Onyx black ink.

Then I stamped the leaves from KJ1715 with 3 colors of Memento inks and diecut them.

I glued a strip of silver glitter paper on the cardbase, so it lines the windows.
Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase.
Mounted the twigs with small bits of foamtape and tucked them in and under the window openings.

Materials used/ Gebruikte materialen:
Marianne Design/Karin Joan KJ1715
Marianne Design/Karin Joan KJ1719
Memento inks: Bamboo leaves, Cottage ivy and Nothern pine.

A tribute to Melissa Lane

Sad news had arrived at AAA headquarters, the untimely passing of our team member Melissa Lane.
We deceded to commemorate her with Butterfly cards, her favourite colour was red.
For my card I used the Concord and 9th Butterfly beauty with Versafine Clair black ink (Nocturn) and red magic Versamagic ink and a layer of Love letter Memento ink.
The sentiment is from the same set and  I've added 3 red pearls.

My heart goes out to her family in this sad times, I am thinking of you.

See our AAA blog for all the DT tributes.

AAA Cards Challenge #126: moonlight

This fortnight the AAA Cards Challenge is: moonlight.
Our sponsor is Uniko and the prize is the choice of an in stock stamp set.

I was given this gorgeous die of an owl on a branch and I thought the circle around it looked like a full moon, that's why I inkblended a yellow Orange moon.I wanted some kind of candy corn colors because of the time of year.
I used Versamagic mini inks (thatched straw, mango madness and persimmon) on the cardbase.
Diecut the owl from black card and mounted it with foam tape.
As I wanted as much empty space (not white this time) as possible, I didn't add a sentiment. I do not send out cards with Halloween and so I will decide on the sentiment when I use this card, maybe my friend who's a crazy owl lady.
For more information, more examples form our Design Team, or to play along, see this.

Craftin Desert Divas creative challenge: florals and fairytales

For my card this week I printed the fairy from Magical day and the sentiment in Photoshop.
I printed it on marker friendly paper and colored the fairy with both Spectrum and Illustrator markers.
I used the grass border from Outdoor landscape 2 dies to  cut off the bottom of my panel.
I also diecut three of the birches in the same dieset for my forest feel.

For the background I used alcohol inks and rubbing alcohol on Yupo paper and let it dry.
Then I used Scortape to adhere the  alcohol panel to the cardbase and Nuvo Deluxe glue to adhere the trees to the panel.
Mounted the grassy border with foamtape and placed it on top.
I also mounted the fairy with foamtape and stuck her on  an angle on the card, as if she's fluttering through this forest. Added some shine with the Lollipop sequins, I stuck those down with gluedots

Making a stencil with a die- maak een eigen stencil met een stans

Today I'm showing you a card that has a stencilled background I made from scratch.
To do so I diecut the little Christmas tree from KJ1716 14times from grid paper in an attempt to get it as straight as possible.
I then Applied Distress Oxides through it and Stamped the present lines from KJ1716 also and the sentiment from KJ1717 with Versafine Onyx black ink. the stamps wasn't as wide as my cardbase ,so I extended the lines with a marker.

I diecut the bow from Col 1441 from black card backed with the Craft tape  to make it a sticker and adhered it to the card.

Then I applied the same craft take on both sides of craftfoam and diecut the deer from KJ Col 1442 from it as well as silver glitter
paper and adhered them together and then on top of the bow.

Materials used/gebruikte materialen:

Marianne design/Karin Joan KJ1716
Marianne design/Karin Joan KJ1717
Marianne design/Karin Joan col 1442
Marianne design/Karin Joan col 1441
Versafine onyx black ink
Marianne Design craft tape LR0014
Distress Oxides: cracked pistachio, iced spruce and mowed lawn.

Yeti Artist Trading coins

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: anything but a card, showcasing My Favorite Things products.

For my anything I chose Artist Trading Coins, they seem a hot trend and this is my first try.

I'm not entirely sure how big ATC usually are, but I diecut about 2.5"inch circles from 300grams Schut Cold pressed watercolorpaper for my coins.

I chose the Beast Friends from MFT and stamped them with MFT hybrid ink onto Crafter's Companion Neenah Paper and had the Scan N Cut do it's thing.
Stamped the little trees from the same set on Inkadinkado masking paper and cut them out.

Masked off the bottom of my coins with Post its so to make it look like snow. I Also placed the trees and inkblended Distress inks around the masks to make a sort of Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

I've used Distress inks: Black soot, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio and Squeezed Lemonade.

I've splattered most skies with water.
Some I spritzed with Shimmer Spritz, both the Sparkle and the Frost one, I also used the Simon Says Stamp falling snow stencil and Deco Art modelling paste. Seems more transparent than I thought, but the effect is there.

Colored my Yetis with Alcohol markers and mounted them with foam.
then stamped the little paw prints in the snow with third or fourth generation stamping, but they're still dark. This was Versafine Clair Nocturn ink.

Airwick candle in glass jar box-with video and free pattern

I found these little glass jars from Airwick and I thought they'd make cute little presents, of favors, or hostess gifts, baby shower things enve stocking fillers, all depending on what cardstock you use.I chose to use colors that match the candles, I have found red berries scent, but it's  purple and Orchid wich is pink.

Sadly you can only get one box out of one sheet of 12x12 cardstock, but you can get the lid and the base out of the same sheet.. My blocks from Craft Sensation are double sided, so for the first box I used the "other side"but they do not always match, so I also pulled out solid card that matches and two colors of ribbon, that are the same color but darker for a  pop of color. One would aslo work of course, I just like two and have too much ribbon anyway haha.

OK for the lid you need a piece of card sized 4"1/4 x 4"1/4 (square)
You score on all sides at 1 inch, or 1"and 3'1/4 on both sides.

for the base you need another square piece measuring   6"3/8x 6"3/8
you score on all sides at 2"1/8 or 2"1/8 and 4"1/4, see the video  to see what I mean/do.

Burnish all score lines and cut and notch as indicated on the pattern Glue the lid and base together, I use hot glue.

Finished box measure appr. 2: 1/4 square.

Essential embossing

The Craftin Desert Divas weekly creative challenge is: essential embossing.

For my card I used two kinds of embossing, dry and heat embossing.

I started my card by diecutting the mountains and cacti from  Southwest Border Dies and I passed the cacti through the machine again on the embossing setting, it's faint on camera, but you can see the lines in the cacti.

I then traced the upper mountain range so I knew where to inkblend my sunsetting sky.
I made the sun by masking the circle first as I did the sky, then I used the negative to mask the sky whilst I was applying ink on the sun or moon if you prefer as there's a coyote/wolf howling at it.

For my image I used the Scorpio digi, printed in on marker friendly paper and colored her with Spectrum Noir markers. Looking back at it it's more cooked lobster than scorpion haha, there are red ones with black extremities so that's why I chose black hair. Anyway I thought a scorpion would live in this arid place ;-) We had them in Italy where Ilived, always had to check the bed, tiny black ones, burt also snakes would curl up in between your sheets...

For the sentiment I used Versamark to stamp it and then sprinkled on Wow!  embossing powder (fairy tail) and heat set it.
Mounted the scene with glue, scortape and or foamtape.

Let's get ready for Christmas

That's the new Wednesday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp, showcasing Clearly Besotted products.

I only have this Clearly Besotted Christmas stamp, many others, but only one Christmas set...I should do something about that haha...

Anyway for my card I used the Let's prance from Clearly besotted and I stamped the reindeer on Crafter's Companion Neenah paper and colored them with Spectrum Illustrator markers. Then I used the dies to cut them out.
I stamped the sentiment from the same set, with Versafine Onyx black ink onto a panel and then I diecut the three windows with the SSS tri square die. Traced the openings onto the cardbase and applied Oxides: Peacock feathers and Tumbled glass. I then splattered the blue with Distress Brushed pewter spray stain and Kuretake white ink. Mounted the panel with foamtape, adhered it to the cardbase and tucked in the reindeer.
There's only one Rudolph, so I gave the others a purple and blue nose ;-).

For more information onthe Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, see this.

Eye believe it's your birthday

Today I'm showing you my second card with the googly eyes cake from Craftin Desert Divas.

I've printed it on marker friendly paper and colored it with Spectrum Noir and Illustrator markers, then cut it out and glued googly eyes on top, I  mean that's just mandatory I think ;-)

For the background I masked off stripes and  I used Distress inks to color the stripes, but dragging/swiping the inkpad on the paper, much quicker than inkblending haha.

I've used what I believe to be Halloween like colors, I;ve added the pink though for fun.
(mustard seed, black soot, twisted citron, wilted violet, carved pumpkin, picked raspberry).

I made the sentiment in Photoshop and printed it, then cut it into a banner and mounted it with foamtape on the cardbase.
I also  mounted the googly eyes cake with foamtape and added it to the card.
