AAA Cards Challenges #173: Sketch + at the movies, with video

This fortnight  the AAA Cards Challenge is a sketch and the option is "at the movies"..

Our sponsor is Cas-ual Fridays and I've used their Some Bunny loves you set for the sentiment.

For the image I've used a digi from Isabel Cristina "nanny Poppins", I found it on Etsy.

I printed the image on Crafter's Companion Neenah paper and printed it out.
Added clouds as per the sketch with a stencil and Distress Oxides...I realized too late the clouds are the wrong way...looked at changing it, but  decided it doesn't really matter, as long as you can see the sketch.

Stamped the sentiment from  Cas-ual
Fridays with Versafine Clair ink, I thought it went well with the image  floating in the sky. I could have used the bunny, but  the Nanny is more movie like in my opinion.

Coloured the image with my alcohol markers and adhered the panel to a cardbase.

Chalkboard cards

The Less is More challenge this fortnight is: Lucky Dip- Chalkboard technique.

I started my process with the one chalkboard with sentiment only, but as I was looking for that Woodware set I came across the Whimsy set and so I made two, mostly cos the giraffe didn't fit in the frame.

The frame is from Craft Sensations and I enlarged it by stamping the top first, then the giraffe and then the bottom to fit.
I have been known to draw on schoolboards  before cleaning them ;-).

I've used Versamark ink and Wow opaque bright white regular.

The sentiment is also from the Giraffe Peeking set from Whimsy and I've used  Versafine Clair ink.

The woodware set is called  Old Type messages.

To keep it CAS I only used a portion of my card for the Chalkboard look. I left the  strayed bits of embossing powder on purpose, so it looked more like a mess.

Birthday bears

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is:  Anything goes, showcasing Gina K. products.

I only have the amalgam ink and the stamp shammy. I got it in Diecember I think last year as a gift with any Gina K product. So I stamped the little panda from Scrapbook Forever with Gina K amalgam ink and cleaned the stamp with the shammy. Colored it with alcohol markers and cut it out.

For the background I masked off an area, applied Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxides with Peacock feathers on top. the bubbles are from a Tim Holtz stencil (THS037). It's not as wide as my card, so I added more on the left and right handside.

For the sentiment I've used the Happy Birthday from the Simon Says Stamp set Birthday Balloons.

Mounted the panda with foamtape and placed it on top.

Winter Wishes

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Beautiful Botanicals.
The Simon says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: Oh so cute.

I think this stampset from Stamping Bella is just that: so so cute and a botanical image.

I've used the  Bundle girl with a snowdrop. Stamped the image with Gina K amalgam ink and colored it with Graph'it alcohol markers. The fineliner point on these markers make the tiniest detail easy to color. Cut it out.

On the cardbase I've applied Distress oxides in Twisted Citron and Mowed lawn.

Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Clair ink, it's from My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes.

Mounted the image with foamtape and adhered it to the base.

Sprouted Baby

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Beautiful Botanicals.
The Simon says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: Oh so cute.

I think this stampset from Stamping Bella is just that: so so cute and a botanical image.

I've used the  Sprouted Baby in a pot with matching sentiment. Stamped the image with Gina K amalgam ink and colored it with Graph'it alcohol markers. The fineliner point on these markers make the tiniest detail easy to color. Cut it out.

On the cardbase I've applied Distress oxides in Twisted Citron and Mowed lawn.

Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Clair ink.

Back to School

Another Guest designer post from me this week for the fabulous Whimsy Stamps.
I’ve used the  digi called “Brains”, there’s a boy and a girl version. I turned my card in a back to school card. https://whimsystamps.com/collections/august-2020-digital/products/brains-digital-stamp-1

I’ve printed the digi on watercolour paper and colored it with Talens Ecoline an ink like watercolour. Then cut it out.

For the background I’ve masked off a strip on the card base and applied Black soot  Distress Oxide ink, I did not care about how well I could blend it, in fact it looks like a messy school board now, you know with remnants of chalk on it. I then used my right hand (I’m left handed) to write back to school with the Versamarker pen and sprinkled it with Wow opaque bright white embossing powder.
Had to do this a couple of times as the pen dries quickly. I thought it would look more clumsy with my non dominant hand and maybe more  elementary school like?
Placed the character in front of the chalk board with foamtape.

AAA Cards Challenge #172: ONE layer and my other hobby, with video

This fortnight Ishani chose the optional twist of "my other hobby" along with the obligated one layer card.

I used to have a veggie patch, an allotment if you will, for about 15 years, I gave it up last year as it got too heavy for me, it was all clay soil and  my body just rebelled and said "nope".

So for my card ofcourse I had to use a veggie theme. So I combined the Clearly Besotted  Pick a plushie with the sentiment from Funky Fossil Designs.

I masked off a strip on the cardbase and applied dots of Distress inks. Randomly as I wanted funky veggies.
I stamped the vegetables with WOW embossing ink and heatembossed  them with Wow Bright white opague embossing powder. peeled the top mask off and stamped the image again with Gina K amalgam ink.I thought I might want to colour them, but felt there was enough colour as is.
Stamped the sentiment with the same ink.

I know ONE layers scare people, but I look forward to what you come up with, you can link your  creation on the AAA Cards Challenge blog.

Old enough to know better

The Less is More Callenge is: Doodles.
The AAA Birthday is a tic tac toe challenge, I chose the first column (bright , rainbow, masking)

For my card I masked off about 4cm area and inkblended a Distress ink rainbow ( candied apple, carved pumpkin, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, mowed lawn, mermaid lagoon, wilted violet, picked raspberry).
On top I stamped a reall old Penny Black stamp fromt he set Trims, I've used Versafine Clair ink.

For the sentiment I've used the Clearly Besotted set Laugh out loud again, alos Versafine clair ink.
It's not even one layer week, but it's a one layer card gain.

Beach Penguin

This week I continue my guest designer post with the fabulous Penguin Beach from Crissy Armstrong https://whimsystamps.com/collections/august-2020-digital/products/penguin-beach-digital-stamp

I printed it on watercolor paper and colored it with Faber Castell Poly Chromos pencils. I moved the pigment around with a brush and Gamsol. To do this you need watercolour paper and a lot of pigment on the paper. It won’t work with a light brushing of pencil. I didn’t add a sentiment, wasn’t sure what I wanted it to say ,so  will add it when I know what  the card is for.
Trimmed the panel   and then mounted the watercolour panel on top of my cardbase with foamtape.

Best Fishes

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: Summer Blues, showcasing Memory Box products.
The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Summer Memories, I thought I could combine them.

I've used the Poppy Stampsset called I'm a narwhal. Poppy Stamps is a daughter company of Memory box, so I hope that counts.

For the background I've masked off and area and applied Distress inks: Blue Print Sketch, Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon.
I splattered it with water for airbubbles. Heat set it.

Stamped the sentiment from the same set with Versafine Clair ink.

I colored the images with alcohol markers and mounted them with foam tape in the "sea".

Christmas Craft Creations August theme: Animals, with video

This month we're embracing Animals as our theme for the Christmas Craft Creations challenge blog.

For my card I made a mask from stencil plastic to apply Distress Oxides Candied Apple through it.
To make it I drew a sketch, traced it with a markers, scanned it on the Scan N Cut and then had it cut out.

For my sentiments and image I've used the Whimsy Stamps: Grumpy Holidays, I've stamped itwith Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.

I thought the sentiment was hilarious "I made you a present it's on the lawn"as  revenge for having to wear antlers., He's not happy about it, much like my cats would be plotting their revenge too. Here's Tjeerd he left  the Santa hat on for 2 second...just enough to take a picture ;-).

I colored the image with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers and mounted it on top with foamtape.

Happy Summer

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Summer Memories.

Normally I wouldn't use any brands they do not sell, but this card is a combination of both.

I've used the Carlijn design, also the little rectangular frames I cut randomly from the panel after I inkblended it with Distress Oxides, splattered it with water and Shimmer Spritz Sparkle for a shimmery water.

the Monkeys are from Monkey Sea, Monkey do from Avery Elle and I stamped it with Gina K. Amalgam ink so I could color it with alochol markers.

The sentiments and speach bubbles are also Carlijn Design. They say Happy Summer, and do you want to dive, deep in the sea.

I've used one layer of foamtape on the frame and flush mounted the frame insets, so the scene is continous, but the critters are compartmentalized.

Guest Designer for Whimsy cards #1

I'm so excited to be the August Guest Designer for Whimsy stamps, such an honor.

For my card today I made a kind of gate fold card with a surprise inside.

New this month is the Flippin Dragon from Dustin Pike. There's a censored version too if you prefer.
But for this card I ignored the flipping him all together, he's just holding the little Birdie...and a sign to the fishing hole, that you will find on the inside, another Dustin Pike digi: Gnome fishing.

For the card I took a full sheet of DCP paper, cut the height, in metric 10,5cm or appr.4". then I scored the long side at roughly 7,5cm
from both sids. a metric card is 14.85cm so I had to cut of a little over hang, but that's ok. I'd rather cut off than be short.

I masked off a grassy hill and inkblended Distress Oxides Mowed Lawn and Broken China.
Matched the hill as best as I could on the inside, but only  did the half on the left as I wanted to leave empty space for writing

For the images I stamped them with Gina K amalgam ink and colored them with alcohol markers, in this case a combination of Copics, Spectrum Noirs and Triblends.

Had the Scan N Cut do the fussy cutting and stucked them on my scene. Added the fish and arrow with a Fineliner.

The sentiment is from a clear stamp set, also designed by Dustin Pike called Camping Dragon.

You can find the Digis on the Whimsy Stamps site.

Great music...

The Simon Says StampWednesday Challenge is: Favorite tool.
The Male Room Challenge is: Happy Birthday,

For my card I've used my stamping platform, I never go without it, free handing it? are you mad woman? ok I do sometimes, usually on more mixed media things, but I would never get a straight sentiment with an acryllic block or a good impression, especially with a new stamp.

Happy Birthday to the Male Room Challenge 7 years old. My card depicts  someone ten times as old I think, 70 or so.
I've used the Art Impressions Birthday Laugh LInes  for Grandpa and Gina K Amalgam ink, then colored it with alcohol markers.

The sentiment is from Riley and Co  RWD-810 and I stamped that with Versafine  Clair ink.

Happy Birthday

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Birthday, it's their 10th, so congrats SSS!.
Fabulous challenges, and incentives/themes.

For my card I've used Art Impressions Never too old for the lady and the sentiment is from Riley and Co I got with my last order from SSS.

I thought it's so funny, not just old people but also toddlers that won't behave ;-).

I stamped the image with Gina K amalgam ink and colored it with markers.
I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Clair ink.

Mounted the panel with foam tape on a cardbase.

Bit of Nuvo shimmer pen on the balloon and hat, not sure oyu can see it on the photo.

AAA CardsChallenge #171: Along the edge + Beach, with video.

This fortnight our challenge is: Along the Edge, pluse the option to use beach as your theme. The theme was chosen by Michelle and our Sponsor is Stamplorations.
They have a free digi with flip flops incase you're interested, I didn't use it as I thought other DT memeber might like  to use it.

For my card I masked off about 1/3 from the edge of my card base.
I use Post-it tape to mask off each layer of sea. Starting with Memento ink: Desert sand sand and Toffee Crunch.

See the video, it's easier to watch than to explain.

Then I would  rip another crooked edge on the Post it and apply  my sea: Summer Sky,
Teal zeal and Nautical blue, making my lower edges lighter and the post darker as if the sea is more shallow and deeper according ot the colours.
For my sea foam I've used white Ecoline ink, but a white gelpen or Copic white or Kuretake ink or even titanium  white acryllic paint would work. As long as it's opaque. You will see the foam as it's wet will remelt the inks a little, but that helps with it blending in I think.
Basically I make wiggly lines, thin here thick there and make those bubbles. It's probably not very accurate, but the end results looks like waves to me, so that's my story;-).

Then I flicked some white ink and I forgot the pink  masking tape would bleed pink!. So I quickly removed it, dried the water and reapplied Nautical blue where neccesary.

I chose Memento ink this time, but this would work with any dye inks you have. Not so much with Oxides as you want them to be translucent  and layer.

For the stamping I've used Memento ink Rich Cacao and the Summer set from Marianne Design. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted (Tiny Type).

I splattered some Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust on top from some shimmer, this time using my stamppouch to cover the white, cos you know I've emembered now lol.

Summer flowers

The new Less is More challenge is: Summer flowers.
The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is: anything goes, showcasing Concord and 9th.

For my card I've used two Concord and 9th products, the only two I have by the way lol. Butterfly beauty for the sentiment and   You are enough for the flower.

The flower is a layering stamp and lining those up is tricky for my weary old eyes hehe...but I've used Memento inks to stamp it.
The black is Versafine ink.
