Chicken Soup

Today (April 27th) is our King's Birthday, so I had the day off, did bits in the garden and now I am relaxing with some coloring and cardmaking. I've used the Whimsy Stamps Get Well set and the same blob stencil I've used on my previous card, but rotated. Distress inks Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade. Sentiment is from the same set by Dustin Pike.

You can find this set here

And there's also a version with Dragons , also Dustin Pike

Whimsy Stamps Bunny Morning glory

This week I'm showcasing the Whimsy Stamps digi Bunny Morning Glory. I love this image even though they're two of my Vegetable plot fiends. I have battled the weed variety of Morning Glory for decades and the veg were eaten by bunnies among others. Nevertheless I loved my allotment garden.

Anyway onto the card: I printed the digi onto watercolor paper with my laserprinter and then colored it with Talens Ecoline watercolors. I've tried to keep the colors in a triangle shape and in threes, I had only one purple flower, that's fine that's the proper Morning Glory color. The weed is white or pink and perennial. The sentiment is from a clear set called Ants at a picnic , also Whimsy Stamps and I thought it matched well with the image of the bunny dangling from the vines.

I've added a pink and orange mat around the image that match the coloring.

You can find the digi here: https://whimsystamps.com/products/morning-glory-bunny-digital-stamp?_pos=36&_sid=7aa3fd08f&_ss=r

Spring blossoms

There's a new Less is More Challenge: One Layer card and off centre. Sounds simple enough, right? This is my third card though.

First on I tried to inkblend "freehanded" but erhm that's not me...second card I grabbed my circle stencils I made once and I was pleased with the results until I realized it was in the centre....oops thirst one is the same image from Nellie Snellen SPCS017 Spring Lovers and same ink, but different.

I've used Distress inks and as light a hand as possible for a springlike feel.

The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps Simple Sentiment Strips.

What's up critters from Gerda Steiner

I won this Gerda Steiner set by taking part in the Easter Egg hunt. Of course I used the cat from the set for my card, I did stamp and cut all the other critters too, but hey....they'll have to wait.  It's called What's up.

For this card I started by stamping my rainbow of sentiments, that is actually from another  Gerda Steiner set called Valentine Penguins.

Then I cut a findow in this panelas I found the background was a bit bright, as intended with the rainbow, but man, traced the opening onto the cardbase and inkblended Distress inks  in the area (Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet)

Mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase. Tucked in the little cat. I kept the cat as neutral as possible  (and like my own haha) as there's so many colors going on already, black always matches ;-) )

AAA Cards Challenges #213: Small and Few + Easter

Happy Easter everyone!. It seems only logical our challenge this fortnight is Easter, well the optional twist chosen by Asa, you don't actually have to use it, but the main challenge of small and few? yes!.

For my card I stamped the Easter line up from Clearly Besotted (Seasonal line up) on Copic friendly paper, had the Scan n Cut do her magic and then coloured it with Copic markers.

The sentiment is also Clearly Besotted (Tiny Type) and I stamped it with Versafine ink.

Mounted the bunnies with foamtape and adhered it to the card.

Hoppy Easter

Oh I'm sorry, I;m not sure what happened to Friday to be honest...I went to the garden center with my friend and now it's Saturday evening and  I  almost went to bed...

Anyway here's my last card for the egg hunt with Gerda Steiner stamps: Bunny with eggs, I think it's retired, but there's a similare one and it's free, so go get it now.

I printed the digi with my laser printer and colored it with Talens  Ecoline a liquid watercolor medium, like an ink, very vibrant ink. I love it. I;ve tried to keep the number of colors to a minimum, but they are Easter eggs, so still colorful.
I then mated the panel and adhered it to the cardbase with foamtape.
I hope you had fun with the Egg hunt.
Happy Easter, oh I'm sorry Hoppy Easter ;-)

Playful tiger

Hello, this week I present to you the Whimsy Stamps Playful tiger digi.

I prepped the image on the pc and added the sentiment  from the digi set "say it big".

printed it on watercolor paper with my laserprinter. Then I colored it with Talens Ecoline  a fluid watercolor medium.

Sprayed fixative on it, mounted the panel with foamtape and adhered it to a cardbase, sounds easy doesn't it? It is!

You could also use the Talens ecoline markers, Zigs real brush markers (but I don't have the right colors) and or Karin Markers, or Distress reinkers, anything waterbased  would work of course, just use a fixative spray  when done ;-)

White gel pen on the eyes and nose.

Do what makes you happy

There's a new challenge over at the Less is More Blog and I've chosen Farmer, then mice, then farmer again...I'll explain.

I first stamped the Clearly Besotted set All round the farm, as I had to stamp it a few times with Extreme black ink from My Favorite Things, I smeared the image here and there, even with heat setting it. I wanted the circle to be as light as possible and the barn was red but light red looked pink, so I went over it with blue and then it was really dark and catching all the attention and I didn't like it, so I stamped the image again on the cardbase and thought I'll leave it B&W and well, that was too harsh  in my humble opinion. For the sentiment I wanted to use one from Animal Antics (Craftin Desert Divas is no longer in business).

So not liking my farm scene I came up with the Stampendous set Willow Climb, it's a farm animal and it went with the sentiment from the same Animal antics. Also stamped it with Extreme black in k and colored it with Copic markers, I was in fact really pleased with the CAS look, but then I realized it's farm, yes, occupation: no.

Although the mice and voles in my garden made it their job to eat every single thing I'd like to eat too.

So back to the Clearly Besotted set and accepted it was what it was, looked better now the ink has dried.

In the Whimsy Stamps'set : Simple sentiment strips"there is this one and I thought it works with the occupation and I can just see a city boy leaving everything behind to grow his own...

So that's my logic and thought process, hope you like the cards.

Have a ball

For this week's Egg hunt I've used the Gerda Steiner set Dachshunds, images and sentiment. I stamped the images on Copic safe paper and colored them with Copic Markers.

I masked off the edges on a cardbase and applied Distress inks : Twisted Citron and Tumbled glass, fading it to the top.

I then splattered with metallic watercolor and some water droplets also landed on the cardbase, that's all good, removed the tape and stamped the sentiment from Dachhunds with Versafine  black ink.

While that was drying I applied foamtape  on the back of my images and adhered them to the card.

I'm sharing this in the Gerda Steiner challenge blog on  website.

Friends are like Angels without wings

Pretty sure that's exactly it, especially for good friends that always stick around and are there for one and another, this sentiment feels so true.

For my card I've used the Whimsy Stamps digi Angel Clove. I kept reading and reading that title, expecting to see Angelic Love, not sure why, does it matter? not really...

I printed it on Copic Safe paper and colored it with Alcohol markers. I may have mixed a few brand, doesn't matter, use what you have ;-).I wanted to use different colors for the hair,. not blonde like Angels/Cupids usually are depicted, also his loin cloth could be burlap and warm greys for the wings.

I then used Tumbled Glass Distress ink and a cloud shaped stencil and tried to make it look like the Angel is on his cloud, maybe looking down on the person he's supposed to be guarding (like he's a Guardian Angel). I hope you can see it, it's very faint, but exactly how I wanted it, there but not intrusive on the main image.

The senitment is also from Whimsy Stamps: Big Wishes Sentiments, thought it was a perfect pairing, I added it when I was prepping the image for printing.

As my laser printer always prints on a slant I matted it,  in an effort to get it straight again.Glued the panel to a cardbase.

AAA Birthday Challenges #36: Critters

This month at the AAA BIrthday Challenge we're playing with critters and it was my choice, so you can blame me.

For my birthday card I've used a gi from Beccy's Place and I added the sentiment on the pc, printed it with my laser printer, coloured it with Copics.

For more information or to play along the AAA Birthday Challenges, see this.

AAA Cards Challenge #212: Along the Egde+ Your Country

This fortnight the challenge is: along the edge, plus the optional twist to showcase your country.

I am from the Netherlands, known for it's windmills canals and also bridges and grey skies ;-)

For my card I used  the Marianne Design border  (LR0381) and I cut it from the top of a panel, then traced it  on the cardpanel so I knew where to add Distress inks. I think it's Hickory smoke, but it was whatever was left on the blending tool.

The sentiment is from Carlijn Design (Nederland groetjes) and I stamped them with Versafine ink. Adhered the panel to the cardbase with tape runner.

Just vrooming by to say...it's your birthday

This week I've used the Gerda Steiner Vrooming by for the image and the sentiment on the front, for the sentiment on the inside of the card, I've used the GSD Dachshunds.

I stamped the image on Copic safe paper and colored it with Copic Markers. Then I inkblended the background on the cardbase with Distress inks, splattered with water.

The Dutch merchant houses are from Nel;lie Snellen (vintage houses) cut it from white card and adhered it to the cardbase. Made the road with black cardstock and a

white gel pen.

Adhered the image with foamtape.

I've entered  the card into the Gerda Steiner gallery. (when the April ons is up and running)
