A colour challenge.
I started with the butterfly card, and I made a stencil from a butterfly die (Simon Says Stamp) then sponged Distress inks through the openings. I used vellum for the details butterfly (Joy! crafts)
But when I cut off the wings on the red butterfly I didn't like the card anymore, had to chop off some of the bottom one, I was fine with that. So I didn't even bother with a sentiment.
Now that I photographed it, the card doesn't look as bad as before...always come back to your projects ;-)...
Anyway in the meantime I thought of another way to incorporate the colours.
I also made a stencil with these Paper Smooches dies (dainty flowers) and also sponged Distress inks through the opening (mowed lawn, cracked pistachio and barn door).
I then diecut the flowers again from heavy white cardstock with Stick-it on the back, so I could adhere them to the card easily.
I offset the diecuts a little, like in oldfashioned printing or old comics where lines and colours never lined up just quite right. I tried to use odd shaped stamps first, but they were too big, too small...etc.
I also diecut the sentiment, also Paper Smooches (love word 2) from black cardstock with Stick it on it.
I extended the coloured stems to the edges of the paper.

I'm loving those offset flowers and how the lines don't quite match up, fabulous idea. Thanks for playing along at CC&S.
