autumn leaves

The new Less is More Challenge is: Autumn.

Short of going outside to collect some leaves from the streets, I had no real inspiration.

I ordered the Tim Holtz leaves yesterday, but as I am not sure when they get here, today I looked at shapes in my Scan N Cut and actually found 3 I liked.

So I started by ink smooshing Distress inks in various tones of brown, orange and green, few layers and heat set in between.

Over to the  Scan N Cut, I wanted three to make a bunch, three different ones. Cut them out.

then I applied Versamark ink and Wow Clear  Gloss Ultra High embossing powder for the shine as if the leaves are wet.

Went to get my sentiment and spotted a

Marianne Design set of dies with leave in it. I had a corner left on my watercolour panel, so I diecut it and also clear coated it. Mainly because the dainty one I had from the Scan N Cut was too cute behind the other two.

As I was making my arrangement I decided three was too much and wouldn't leave me much empty space.

I also preferred the newly diecut one more. So I decided to stamp the sentiment from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips) and also splattered some metallic gold Finetec watercolouir, After all I have space now ;-) I did cover up most of the panel, so platter couldn't go anywhere outside the centre portion. It's also very fine, but it add this shimmer and detail.

Heat set the sentiment and splatter. Adhered the leaf with liquid glue.

  2. Your leaves are striking, Maaike, and I love the beautiful shine of the gloss embossing. May be I didn't understood well how you did your card, but it seems that you used die cuts to make your leaves, and I think you missed the One Layer Card challenge and only focused on the Autumnal cue word. Anyway your card is really beautiful as it is and thank you for sharing it in the Less is More gallery.
