Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: wonderful watercolor

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: wonderful watercolor

For my card, (third version : one was a smooshed stencil, one the SSS purry Christmas and this one).
I start with an idea go for it, then decide it's rubbish, get on with the next and I love the purry Christmas, but when I was halfway through I also discarded it...lol...it's a process this cardmaking malarky haha.
Anyway for my third and final try I traced the snowflakes from a stencil onto watercolor paper.
I then colored them with Distress ink (tumbled glass, broken china and salty ocean).
I wanted it to feel a bit like the famous pottery from my Dutch town, can you guess? ....Delft blue ;-)
I heat embossed the sentiment (Heor arts classic Christmas borders) with gold embossing powder (Papermania),
I cut the watercolor paper on one side to make it narrower and attached a shimmery dark blue cardstock strip to the back of the watercolored panel... and to fill out the rest I used gold glittery/shimmery washi tape on the cardbase.
I raised the snowflakes panel with foam tape.

I contemplated sequins, dewdrops or moonstones, rhinestones and alike, but I decided against them after placing them on the front, I think this is the perfect balanced frontpanel ;-)....I like the modern feel of it.

(I made 116 cards for the local foodbank Christmas boxes and I ddin't even inlcude those in my numbers... yikes)

  1. Wow! This card is really the epitome of "simple elegance." I love how you used traditional images, yet you've made them so fresh and lovely with the soft colors. The metallics are a wonderful touch and I really enjoyed seeing such a beautiful card. Thank you so much for sharing this with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
