AAA Cards Challenge #124: Imagine

This fortnight we're working with the theme: imagine.
Our sponsor is Winnie and Walter.

For my card I used the Winnie and Walter stampset  called Big Hugs and I stamped the cute puppy and kitten with My Favorite Things black licorice ink onto the Crafter's Companion Neenah paper and let the Scan & Cut do the cutting out.
Colored the image with Spectrum Noir and Spectrum Illustrator markers. Nuvo Shimmer pen on their noses, bit small to see on the photo, but I thought pets need wet noses ;-).
The sentiment is from C.C. Design (puppy power) and I stamped it  with  Versafine onyx black ink, heat set it to be sure.

I used a gold like shimmery cardstock for my background and masked off a strip at the bottom, splattered Distress inks in Antiqued bronze and Dylusions White linen spray stain. Then Stamped the paws from the Puppy power set with Versamark and heat embossed them with Wow! metallic copper embossing powder.

Mounted the pets with foamtape. Adhered the panel with taperunner to the cardbase and mounted the pets on top. At first I wanted them to sit in the strip, but I didn't want to cover it now, so they sit on top, which helps to ground them I suppose.

For the "imagine" bit I thought about the anticipation of a child getting their first pet, I was so excited and my pets never let me down.

  1. Love the implied message about friendship and peace your image of the cat and dog promotes. Super interpretation of the theme and a fabulous card Maaike.

  3. So cute ! I can easily imagine that child, since I remembered my children when they had our first cat, they were very little but the happiness in their eyes was more than I imagined ! I cannot imagine either to live without a cat ! So yes I love your take on this cue word and your lovely design to illustrate. Thank you for having me as GD for this challenge. Have a great crafty week !

  5. Hi Maaike, Such a cute and adorable card. I love all the empty space on your card and especially the interest you created with splattered color. Imagining to get my first pet is something i have been doing since childhood. I always wanted a dog and have been waiting for the right time till now. perhaps in few more years when life isn't this hectic. I love your idea of giving the pets wet noses. happy crafting. hugs - bharati
