foiling on acetate

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is: Party!, so is the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge .

I was heat embossing on the Crafter's Companion Heat Resistant acetate the other day and I got to think maybe I can also foil on it.

It doesn't say on the packaging, so it was an experiment and it worked. I  printed the sentiment with my laser printer on the heat resistant acetate . then Added Wow fab foil in gold and passed it through my MInc (like) machine that also worked.Funny cos with the heat gun I could see it starting to bubble if I held it in one spot too long, but this is way cool.

I then cut an aperture in a panel with nesting circle dies and traced the opening onto the cardbase. Applied Distress inks : Chipped Sapphire, Prize Ribbon and Blue Print Sketch, then splattered with water and Liquid Stardust from Lawn Fawn.

Adhered the acetate to the back of the opening with taperunner and then mounted the panel with foamtape.

With different fonts and wording, this opens a lot of possibilities, which I always like. Imagine  Merry Christmas, maybe with a tree shaped aperture, a snowflake, a heart and Happy Valentine or Mother;s day card? Anything is possible.

AAA Cards Challenges #205: Christmas + Slimline Card, with video

This is the last AAA Cards Challenge for 2021,ahhh sad face...it's Christmas its on a slimline if you fancy, the option of slimline was chosen by Jane.

For my card I cut an A4 sheet on the long side at 22cm, fold it in half to get my slimline. My panel is 21,5cmx 10cm.

For my 2 quarter bits I measured the panel, divided it in four and chose the best match for my die,it's a wee bit smaller, but that's OK, more empty space.

I traced the area behind the windows and inkblend Distress inks Broken china and Faded Jeans. Splattered the sky with Shimmer Spritz Sparkle and Dylusions White linnen spray. Heat set it and then stamped the sentiment below the right window, It's from Clearly Besotted (Tiny Type) and I've stamped it in Versafine.

The left over bits from cutting my A4 sheet I've used to diecut my village and stag, both from Craft Emotions, but they're a few years old,not sure they're still available.

Glued the stag and village to the panel and then glued the panel to the cardbase.

Create a Smile Advent Calendar #6 Here Comes Santa Claus

AAA Birthday Challenges: #32: easel card

This month the AAA Birthday Challenge is to make an easel card.

It's also my birthday month, so I made a frosty scene, a cute frosty scene I should say, for a birthday card in the middle of winter.

The image is a digi from Digidoodle design studio and I printed it on Copic safe paper, added the sentiment whilst I was in Photoshop.

Then I cut off the upper portion, not strictly neccessary, But I thought it would be fun if portions of the image would stick out the top.

To make my easel I cut a 12x12inch piece of card in half (6x12") and then folded it in half and the folded bit in half again. I'm sure it's the most basic way to make an easel, I had to look it up, it's not my normal style. I found the image on the internet with the search engine.

To make sure the folded bit stays put, I've added a piece of patterned paper from Doodlebug Design, it's a few years old, but it has pretty coloured snowflakes on it, I mounted the piece of patterned paper with foam, so  the folded bit can tuck behind it. I cut the patterned paper to 6x4 inches. I matched the scene to the same width. To colour my scene I took inspiration from the colourful snowflakes.

The Male Room Challenge: Food

This month the Male Room Challenge is all about food, manly food ofcourse ;-).

I've used a digi from Stamponit (Couch potato), he's a lazy teenage boy dreaming about his favorite  tv night ;-). I've added the text whilst I was prepping the digi in Photoshop. I went for a foodie twist on my film titles.

I'd like to see the Lord of the Fries hehe or Silence of the yams, well Starch Trek also sounds fun. I wonder if you can come up with more titles.

Anyway I printed the digi on Copic paper and colored him with alcohol markers.

Then adhered the panel to a cardbase.

AAA Cards Challenge #204 Along the Edge + Snow, with video

This fortnight we are playing Along the edge and possibly in the snow as the twist was chosen by our DT member Ceal.

I made a side folding card, so I could diecut the snowflake border from it, It's from StudioLight (StencilFF16, Frozen Forest series).

Then I measured how much space I need behind it, applied Versamark ink and Heat embossed the back of the cardbase with Wow Embossing powder Midnight Dream. I had others out, but I liked the dark blue, with silver tones the best as I thought it looked very stylish and elegant. You can do any colour of course, maybe red and or green for the Christmas feel.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things ( Bitty Holiday Wishes) and I stamped it with Versafine ink.

AAA Cards Challenges #203: One Inchie + Masculine, with video

This fortnight the AAA Cards Challenge is: ONE Inchie, plus the optional twist of Masculine, if you'd like, this was chosen by our Admin Jane.

I resorted to my window trick again, I found this kinda masculine image from My Favorite Things (Magical Dragons), I  mean it's a Knight, he's 1 inch, the feather makes him a tad taller, but I don't care. But there's no room for the sentiment, hence the window trick, with things hidden on the inside. Works great actually.

I diecut the window with a one inch square, to decide on it's position I placed the stamps in the stamp positioner, then the die below them and stuck it down with masking tape, ran it through my machine.

I stamped the images with Gina K Amalgam ink, then smudged it, so cut down the panel. The sentiment is from the same set and I stamped that with Versafine ink, heat set it.

Marked the cardbase with a pencil so I know where it has to go once coloured, it moved slightly up, but it's still OK.

To colour the images I've used the Graph-it Brush and fineliner alcohol markers.

Get well orchid

There's e new Less is More Challenge: Silhouettes.

I have to admit I forgot to check this morning and then I had a visitor and then I had to watch Strictly .

I like the dances  but all the falafel  or is it döner ha..in between I used to make the card.

I inkblended Distress inks: Wilted Violet and Mermaid Lagoon through a mask I made by ripping a hole in the masking tape.

Then I stamped the orchid silhouette from Nellie Snellen (SIL053) and the sentiment from Clearly Besotted (Tiny Type) with Versafine ink. Let it dry until the finish of Strictly  ;-)

Time to say Thanks

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and the Wednesday Challenge are about Thanks/Thanksgiving.

For my card I used the sketch from the Facebook Group: Clean and Simple Cardmaking.

And I just got these Sizzix/Tim Holtz  leaf Fragments dies.  For my leaves I ink smooshed loads of Distress inks on watercolor paper, then diecut. I don't remember all the colors but some are: Aged Mahogany, Fossilized Amber, Rustic WIlderness and Ground Espresso, let is dry.

Then I used the embossing dabber, also Tim Holtz and Wow clear embossing powder ultra high for the glossy finish and wet look.

For the banner I masked off and area on the cardbase and applies Distress inks: Wild Honey, Crackling Campfire, Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted (Tiny Type)

The Male Room Challenge November: Gnomes

This month the Male Room Challenge is all about Gnomes.

For my cards I used a Digit from Twistoon Digis and  I added the sentiment in Photoshop.

I coloured the image with alcohol markers, all of the ones I have lol CopIcs, Spectrum Noir and  Graph-it markers.

There's a lady Gnome in the digi, but the male ones and I think of coffee as a male drink mostly, like cowboys  brewing it on the campfire ;-) just me I know, I don't drink it. Also it reminded me of that chIldrens story about the cobbler, I think they weren't gnomes but I thought these might be gearing up to help, maybe in my garden?

I tried to keep the colours more manly, blues, green purples and a white gel pen for the highlights.

Cut the panel smaller and adhered it to a cardbase with taperunner.

AAA Birthday Challenges #31: Animals

 AAA Birthday Challenges #31: Animals.

For my card I stamped the Giraffes and sentiment from Whimsy Stamps ( Giraffes Peeking and Simple Sentiment Strips) onto watercolour paper with Versafine ink.

Coloured the image and background with Talens Ecoline. I tried a whimsical background, with a variegated leafy feel. I'm not very good at loose watercoloring, but I try, I kept creeping closer and closer to the girfaafes though hehe, but I tried ;-)

Let the panel dry and adhered it to the cardbase.

AAA Cards Challenge #202: Sketch + Gnomes, With video

The AAA Cards Challenge this fortnight is a Sketch  plus the option to use Gnomes, as chosen by me.

For my card I used Washi tape for the line in the Sketch and also the sentiment, saves me from stamping it.

The Gnomes I stamped on Copic paper with Gina K amalgam ink and had my Scan N Cut do it's magic. The Gnomes are from Scrapbook Forever (SF069 Gnomes) and I coloured them with Copics and Spectrum Noir markers

I've used the grid on my craftmat to make sure the Washi is straight, but then forgot to pay attention to the wording, that's why I also coloured the lady (off camera) and used that cardbase as well.

You are allowed to flip or rotate the sketch, as long as we can recognize it.

Mounted my gnomes with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase. I thought the triangle, although it says any shape, looks a lot like a pointy gnomes hat, perfect for this sketch.

More Winter Whites

Second attempt, first idea

The Less is More Challenge is Winter Whites and well this was my first idea, but on my way through the basket with Dies I came across the CUT-ies from Kippers Hobby, so I switched.

But I thought I should also make my original idea, all white and little white glittery baubles,  I made by cutting the My Favorite Things die again from glitter paper, the die is called  Christmas Tree Window and I cut it from a panel I then raised with foamtape.

No sentiment as I really like this one as is.  I think everyone can see it's a Christmas card ;-)

For more information on the Less is More Challenge, see this.

Winter whites

There's a new challenge over at Less is More: Winter whites. the Design team made wonderful examples and the one from Michelle with the blue inblending is the way I 'm heading...

For my card I diecut two of the CUT-ies 20097 from Kippers Hobby and stacked them. Used the circle opening it left behing in the cardstock to inkblend the exact right sized circle. I applied some Distress inks, not sure what color, what ever was left on my inkblending tool, for a subtle addition, but also to make my scene stand out. Attached the diecuts with liquid glue

It really didn't pop white on white.

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp (Tiny words Christmas) and I've stamped it with Versafine ink.

autumn leaves

The new Less is More Challenge is: Autumn.

Short of going outside to collect some leaves from the streets, I had no real inspiration.

I ordered the Tim Holtz leaves yesterday, but as I am not sure when they get here, today I looked at shapes in my Scan N Cut and actually found 3 I liked.

So I started by ink smooshing Distress inks in various tones of brown, orange and green, few layers and heat set in between.

Over to the  Scan N Cut, I wanted three to make a bunch, three different ones. Cut them out.

then I applied Versamark ink and Wow Clear  Gloss Ultra High embossing powder for the shine as if the leaves are wet.

Went to get my sentiment and spotted a

Marianne Design set of dies with leave in it. I had a corner left on my watercolour panel, so I diecut it and also clear coated it. Mainly because the dainty one I had from the Scan N Cut was too cute behind the other two.

As I was making my arrangement I decided three was too much and wouldn't leave me much empty space.

I also preferred the newly diecut one more. So I decided to stamp the sentiment from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips) and also splattered some metallic gold Finetec watercolouir, After all I have space now ;-) I did cover up most of the panel, so platter couldn't go anywhere outside the centre portion. It's also very fine, but it add this shimmer and detail.

Heat set the sentiment and splatter. Adhered the leaf with liquid glue.

AAA Cards Challenges #201 One Corner + Boo!, with video

The AAA Cards Challenge this fortnight was chosen by Asa and it's One corner + Boo.

For my card I printed one of the cutest little ghosts I've seen from LTTS Doodles on Etsy. The Sentiment is included in the digi set.I chose Ghost #4 as it has a cat, or similar critter, not actually sure, but I see cat plushie haha.

I did shade the ghost and made his plushie purple and his patches. the shading was maybe a tad too light, it doesn't show well through the WOW embossingpowder "Glow in de dark", I applied sticky ink with a Versamarker and had to patch up bits where

no ink was put down, no biggie,it's a clear ink and sometimes hard to see.just Heat set and then repeat as needed.

the Male Room Challenge October: Black and White

This month the Male Room Challenge is all about Black and White and only Black and White.

That threw me a little because skintones would be nice if I coloured a stamped image. So instead I made a treatbox, party favor, Hostess gift, what ever you want to call it. But manly.

I've used two kinds or patterned paper one black with white presents and one white with black dragonflies.

If you want to make one similar box you'll need a piece of paper 4"High and 4"3/8 long.

Score on the long side at: 3/8, 2", 2"3/8, 4"

Score on the short side at 3/8 on both sides.

fold and burnish the score lines and cut away notches as shown in pattern below.

I use hot glue to put the box together and I  put a dab on eacht little tab.

it fits 2 Merci bars.  And looks pretty with a nice coloured ribbon, for the challenge I only iused black and white, but I also made a few coloured ones for you to see.
