AAA card Challenge: #239Choose a side hot or cold, with video and a bonus card

Hello this time at AAA Card Challenges, we're all about one side of the color spectrum, are you a hot or cold person?

Now I think I prefer blues and or purples more, but they didn't seem to go with my first idea: to make a honey comb like thing and or a peacock feather like thing, but as you might know I don't have that much colored cardstock.

I've used the Spellbinders Mini Hexagons set for my card. the mini petals was more like that peacock plumage or mermaid scales I thing.

Anyway I persevered and  cut and cut an cut many colors of cards. as the mini hexagons has 6 frames that fit into each other and I didn't have a set rule for the sequence, you know like a rainbow, I could just stuck them together like  I fancied or had bits left.

I've used the solid hexagon included in the set to make backers with double sided take on it, to make putting them together easier, faster and mess free...kinda worked ;-)

after I was done putting them together I put them on a cardbase. thought a bee would be nice, but I thought it was plenty busy as is.

The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment strips) and I've used Versafine clair Morning Mist for a lesser stark and then I didn't like it at all haha..the morning after I felt better about it, maybe it was the working light that made the colors weird.

I redid it with a stencil too. It's just a hexagon from a nesting frame set and Distress inks, it's more me ;-) Same Sentiment, black Versafine ink.

Less is More Challenge: Automobiles

There's a new challenge and theme to the Less is More Challenges: Automobiles.

I've used the Lili of the Valley Digi : Racing Green, I hadn't even realized this, but I wanted it racing car green as I saw last week passing my by, a Porsche in this glorious emerald green. I know there's also a Spyder or GM in the same colour.

For a second I opted for Happy Father's day, but I thought Birthday covers more gents, I added in whilst prepping the digi, I flipped it so it's racing away from the left corner. Made more sense to me. As my printer likes to print on a slant, I had to make it into a panel.

Coloured the image with Graphit Brush markers and the fineliner point and some Spectrum Noir markers.

Adhered the panel to a cardbase with tape runner.

To Arr is Pirate...

Hello, this week I've made a card using Pirate Dragon from Whimsy Stamps and the Dustin Pike collection.

The sentiment is computer generated and I thought it was funny, not sure how I came up with it, might have been a meme or alike, not sure, but I thought it was funny.

By the way, did you know Pirates never said Arr before  a well known Pirate treasure book?

I printed the image onto alcohol marker paper and  cut it out, colored it with Graphit Brush, Spectrum Noir and Copic markers.

Pirnted the sentiment on Kraft paper I thought could be sand or a beach.

The fish are from the Ocean Stencil and they  are just there for color and texture, I thought the white was too white...yes not feeling like myself lately ha!....

I've used the school a few times and used whatever was left on my inkblending brushes, might have done it differently if I had thought about it before hand.

Mounted the kraft card and the dragon with foamtape. and adhered it to the cardbase.

Happy Father's Day

Hello this week I'm thinking Fathers around the World or, at least, in the Netherlands as it's coming up soon (Mothers' Day in May and Fathers' Day in June).

For my Card I've used the Father's Day Sentiments from Bev Rochester and the Dragon Golf from Dustin Pike, combined with the Boho Basic Circles; all from Whimsy Stamps.

I've pinrted the dragin and sentiment, then cut them out and colored the image with Copic Markers and Spectrum Noir markers.

For my background I've used the Boho Circles to make a mask and applied whatever green was left on my inkblending brushes, I wanted Twisted Citron, but I thought there was enough green left. the Yellow is Squeezed Lemonade, I thought it went best with the orange Dragon. Colored the bit between the dragon and windmill in a matching color; then I adhered the image with  liquid glue to the cardbase.

I've cut the sentiment strip on an angle and mounted it with foamtape.

AAA Cards Challenge #238: ripped edges

Hello, this fortnight we're all about ripped edges, real ones or faux ripped edges.

For my card I've used masking paper and ripped it to make my ripped edge.

I've applied, Distress inks: Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin.

Then splattered with black or darkgrey metallic watercolor and removed the masking paper.

Added a line with my brush and the same watercolor so it looks like my card is layered but it's not, just the cardbase.

Stamped the sentiment with Versafine black ink. It's from Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips)

Flying Lion

Hello, there's a new challenge over at the Less is More Blog: Anything Goes.

That's very broad even for CAS (clean and simple)

For my card I rummaged through some printed and cut out digis I had only coloring left to do.

It's a new brand I discovered a few months ago : Miezo and I like their designs a lot.  colored it with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers.

For the Background I've used a Marianne Design Stencil and blue ink. At first I'd used Versafine on a smaller sentiment from Clearly Besotted but it flooded and I think it was slanted, so I redid the cardbase and used the same Sky Blue ink for the sentiment.

Might cover the sentiment for another card, but I felt it's not CAS as it could be.

Mounted the  lion image with foamtape and adhered it to the cardbase. Added some white gel pen highlights.

Gnome Fishing

Hello, today I'm showing you the Whimsy Stamps Digi: Gnome Fishing from the Dustin Pike Collection.

I've made it really big, almost cardfront size, easier to color ;-) but also the one and only focal point.

I've colored it with alcohol markers and added some shimmer with a shimmer pen, so the pond and fish look shiny from the water.

On the cardbase I masked off a portion, so I could add Distress inks Mowed Lawn o ground the image.

I've stamped the sentiment with Versafine ink, it's from Whimsy Stamps also , a clear set (Simple Sentiment Strips)

Mounted the Gnome with foam tape and added it to the cardbase.

Happy Easter

Hello, it's almost Easter, so I used the Whimsy Stamps Digi Easter Gnomes from the Dustin Pike Line.

It's a set with multiple images and I grouped 3 of them together in Photoshop and then printed it out. cut them out and colored them with Copic Markers.

As I don't really send out Easter Cards, I think the one Gnome with the sign is conveniently saying Happy Easter.

For the background, I masked off the bottom for grass, and inkblended Mowed Lawn and tried to keep it darker around the edges; then I reversed the mask and with a stencil I made with circles (Mylar sheet and Scan n Cut or Nesting dies will work).

I've applied Distress inks in various colors that also appear in the main image. I thought they could be Easter eggs or paint splatter, of  what ever you see in them, they're just a bit of color and fun.

You can find the Easter Gnomes in the Whimsy Store: https://whimsystamps.com/collections/dustin-pike-digital-images/products/easter-gnomes-set-digital-stamp

AAA Card Challenge #237: A Shaped Card with video

This Fortnight we're making  shaped cards that are not rectangles or squares. We have an optional twist of Easter as it's that time of the year, but  I ignored that.

I went cloud shaped with Clearly Besotted Cupids from the set Stupid Cupid.

I free handed the cloud shape first on a normal 10x15cm cardbase, but I thought it was to squished looking, so I went for a slimline card, also gives a bit more empty or white space. Of course wit only one Cupid it would leave more empty space, but I felt like a little scene.

I colored the images with Twinmarkers from Decotime and all the same colors, just to keept it easier on the eyes.

The sentiment is also from the same set and I've used  Versafine black ink for it.

Mounted the image is foamtape and tape runner and adhered  them to the card.

Less is More Challenge: Aquamarine and Black

This fortnight the Less is More Challeng is Aquamarine and Black,

I had a few ideas and I went for these diecuts, I thought they could be Eucalyptus, not entirely sure, they're dies in a advent set I think, can't remember, I've put all the twigs together, sorry. Doesn't matter, my first Idea was the Cute Caterpillar from Memory Box, then the Cat Silhouettes from Impression Obsession, black cats with  an Aquamarine like background., didn't know how to make it CAS. then I diecut a butterfly flutter, but had to make the card twice as big for

empty space, didn't like that either ....morning well spent though.

the sentiment is als from Impression Obsession and I found it while looking for the cats. Stamped it with Versafine Black ink on the cardbase.

I have made the blueish green leafs by using watercolours and Finetec Iridescent watercolours on watercolour paper, let it dry. I wanted an ombre feel to my caterpillar, but it looks better on the leafs too, not as flat.

Once dry I cut them and stuck them on with liquid glue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenges April: #47 Layer it up

Hello, this month we're all about layers over at the AAA Birthday Cards Challenge, but that's not my thing.

I think it's my thing, so I buy these cute layering diesets from Avec Creations (Love 2 Craft) and well, then I don't use them much, I like them, I think I used them last year for the interactive challenge and the sea scene  on another card. Can't resist them as the price is such a good value, I think less than 4 euro, can't resist.

I thought this particular set might be cool for a sweet 16, in the Netherlands that's the legal age to get a scooter license, so this would be nice if someone's reached that age, or perhaps someone that is a scooter fan.

Anyway there's more parts in the set, I didn't use, I think a flower basket, but that might make it only for the girls.

I diecut all the pieces from colored cardstock and stuck them on top. the grey background was initially open, but it looked weird on a white cardbase, so I stuck a pale grey there and then it looked weird still on white, so a colored cardbase for me..oops, I know I'm shocked too.

I even stamped the sentiment in Versafine Morning Mist grey!..grey! Blimey who am i?

Even now I think the lantern is too stark in black, but  yeah hindsight.

It has to be a birthday card, of course, and  the recipient will love it, might change the lantern into sliver, for a shiny metal street light, not sure.
