There's a new challenge over at Less is More and it's under the sea.
For my card I masked off a part on the cardbase and inkblended Distress ink on the left: Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers and Uncharted Mariner, then Splattered with water for bubbles and let it dry.
Once dry I;ve used the Whimsy Stamps Ocean Stencil and Hickory Smoke Distress inks for my ghostly sharks, just a hint of what lurks in the depths.
Sentiment is also Whimsy Stamps (Simple Sentiment Strips) and I've stamped it with Versafine ink.
For more information or to play along the Less is More Challenge, see this.
Hello, this fortnight we're all about one color, you can use different hues of that color, which is your favorite?
I had three ideas, purple, blueish grey and this was my choice once I started to pull together the supplies.
For my card I used a landscape die from Sugar Pea Designs: Farmscape. I thought about doing a straight line and then stamp something in black, but that seemed too harsh and this is masked, so technically the cardbase, not stamped and no layers.
The colors I've chose are: Distress inks Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber..
For the sentiment I've used Memento ink Peanut Brittle and the Bitty Birthday Wishes from My Favorite Things.
As usual you have two weeks to enter your card here.
I thought this one could be wondering something or depicting an Oopsie? I went for a question, in this case a sentiment from the clear set Panda Peekers, also Whimsy and also from the hands of Dustin Pike.
For my card I made masks with circles so I could inkblend dots or gumballs or a bokeh like background using Distress inks.
The image is printed, cut out and colored with alcohol markers.
I stamped the sentiment with Memento Pear Tart ink to match.
I like to make my light up card, easier and cheaper than those crafty brands and I have a few diy hacks for this. Today I'm using simple LED that you can find in an electronics store, diy or alike, I got mine on Amazon.
No need for mess around with circuits with these as the prongs are the conductors as well. the longer "leg"is the plus and should go on the side of a battery. I'm using a CR2016 it's thinner than Cr2020 or CR2032 which is probably the easiest to find nowadays, before this the CR2025 was the standard.
But I like to keep an eye out on these batteries and the thinner the better for cards, but also less juice, so be mindful.
For my card I inkblended a circle for my Sea or ocean with Distress inks and splattered it with water.
Colored the Lawn Fawn Angler Fish with DecoTime brush markers.
the light up mechanism is very easy, you punch a hole for the LED to peek through and then bend the prongs on a 90 degree angle, making sure there's room for the battery and that they don't touch , until you press the panel.
That's where the round bubble like stamp in the set come sin handy, so the recipient actually knows to push it. The sentiments is also from the set.
I then encase the light and battery with two layers of foamtape and also mounted the fish with foamtape as the LED sticks out. ig you fancy you could have it come through the fish's light, but I thought it was too dainty for me to try, but I have done so with a Santa's noce and a Deer's Nose too.
Hello, today I'm using another digi from Dustin Pike at the Whimsy Stamps store.
It's a digital set of six Uni-Kitties, and you all know I love cats, puns and mythical creatures...I hope...
I printed two of them and cut them out with the Scan N Cut, then colored with alcohol markers. In all fariness I wanted to use the trail of stars from the Whimsy Clear set: Create Magic too, you know a la Purrmaid toot, but I decided against, it, might need another card with 3,2,1, we have lift off and a trail of stars ;-) But I did use the sentiment from the same set and a Memento ink for the stamping, I think it goes well with magical creatures.
For the background I masked off the cardbase with a row of clouds, I free handed them out of masking paper, then inkblended Distress inks to make the clouds.
One of the Uni Cats I placed on the bottom edge as it looks like he's standing, the other one is flying or soaring in the sky, mounted the pink one with foamtape and the blue one flush on the cardbase.
Hello, today I have another digi from the latest Whimsy Stamps and Dustin Pike release: Purrmaid Crab.
I added the little goldfish as I had it printed earlier from Purrmaid Toot, printed, cout out and the colored with alcohol markers ( Graphit brush and Spectrum Noir).
For the background I've masked off an area on the cardbase and applied Distress inks: Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon and Salvaged Patina, then splattered with water and set it aside to dry.
The sentiment is from Fishing Dragons, a slear set, also from Dustin Pike and Whimsy Stamps.
Lastly I mounted the images with foamtape and adhered it on top of the cardbase.
Hello, there's another new digital release from Dustin Pike at the Whimsy Stamps store.
It's a digital set of six Uni-Kitties, and I went with a rainbow theme today.
For the background I masked of the cardbase with a blob like stencil I made with my Scan N Cut. Inkblended Distress inks through it, then splattered with water and shimmer.
I actually made this background for the first Uni Cat card I made, but them the problem arose as to way color of cat would go best, so I slept on it and decided a Warm Grey tone with a hint of rainbow would be nice and it is.I added movement marks to make it look the Unicat is actually flying in front of a rainbow, instead of floating in mid air ;-), the opening could have been a rectangular strip too, but I seem to do that enough as is, but you do you, I'm just here to inspire.
For the sentiment I've used a clear set, also Whimsy (Simple Sentiment Strips) and i've used Versafine black ink.
Hello, there's another new digital release from Dustin Pike at the Whimsy Stamps store.
It's a digital set of six Uni-Kitties, Uni-Cats...Uni-Corns..I mean seems we always thought they're white horses, but they could be cats...right?
The images in the shop are all Magenta pink and as much as I like pink, I thought a "my little Pony" yellow would be nicer, what do you think? They could be any color, but I went with a UniCat that would pop from the background and white was boring, but I look forward to your makes, for sure.
For the background I masked of the cardbase with an oval stencil I made with my Scan N Cut. Inkblended Distress inks through it, then splattered with water and shimmer.
For the sentiment I've used a clear set, also Whimsy (Simple Sentiment Strips) and i've used Versafine black ink.
